Guys, just wondering does a 2002 mondeo have a timing belt or chain? If it's the chain, what's the story with them? Do they need to be changed like the belt or what?

    Thanks

Pretty sure it's a belt cos I may remember someone saying how they snap- but it may not have been a mondeo. I believe also that generally chains last like 100k miles+ to 40k/50k for belts.

    Open to correction.

Nope, its definately a chain driven engine. They're supposed to be a lifetime job - just make sure the service intervals are kept, you use the right oil, and check your oil levels.
