Just got a text from sky which reads "No phone line (NPL) now available for new sky customers €37.50 NPL fee applies. Further info to follow"

Edit: second message now says this should have read " For new sky plus customers"

Hi Tony, when they say "for new Sky plus customers" can I assume that includes current Sky customers with regular Sky ? My dad has been wanting to get Sky+ for a while now but doesn't have a phone line near the t.v. nor does he want "wires all over the place".

I've no idea I just copied the text message verbatim, I guess you will have to check with sky.

I would think so because you sign up to another 12 month contract

We finally got an email about it from Sky today. The NPL charge is €37.50 as with the standard digibox.

However, this option is currently only available to new customers. They are working on making this available to existing subscribers upgrading, but haven't the process implemented yet.

I am a current SKY customer. Does this mean I still have to go the phone line route for my Sky Multiroom or Sky+ option??

I really wanted to get SKY+ {multiroom} in but I don't want the wires either.

    Cheers.

Read the first post of the thread "now available for new sky customers " Multi room will always require a phone line

Latest email from sky , interestingly seems to have changed the terms for existing customers.

"NO PHONE LINE OFFER IS NOW AVAILABLE TO SKY HD CUSTOMERS.

SKY HD stand alone customers can now receive SKY HD without a phone line. The standard no phone line fee of €37.50 appplies and must be collected from the customer at the point of sale. No phone line for SKY HD and SKY+ is now available for new and existing customers. This offer does not apply to multi room customers."

Did any agents get the e-mail from Sky about not paying the bonus to us anymore for upgrading an existing customers hardware?

Must say, I'm unaware of such an email.

We did get the same email that Tony got today (well, it was sent at 6.05pm yesterday evening) but not much else. I must confess I didn't read that email in its entirety, just the top paragraph.

I tried to order Sky + online just there and it wouldn't let me because I said I don't have a phone line.

i rang sky for a friend of mine who had moved into a new house.

you don't need phone line if you are getting the ordinary box but if you are getting sky + you do.

i have sky for about 2 years and asked her do you i need to keep my phone line for my own subscription and she said no, but if i change to sky+ i will need to keep my phone line.

going to ring phone company and cancel it - one less bill to pay....

Try ringing and quote the e mail to them?

Why not pick up your local paper and ring a local agent instead?

Seconded, just deal with a local agent if you're a new customer for Sky+, no hassle with phone lines
