Anyone else notice that Kilkenny Retail Park have abandoned their plans to build a kids zone and bowling alley and are converting the section into the new meubles furniture store? Shame really, would have liked to have seen a bowling alley.

oh yeah i forgot that. i think its the station development. Seems strange though that Kilkenny Retail Park is allowed to do that seeing as they were granted permission for all those retail warehouse stores on the premises that they would also be providing a community facility. Other retail parks around the county have been refused permission on the basis that there is too many vacant sites available but Kilkenny Retail Park are allowed to build more and got additional lands zoned in the new development plan?!!

KK county/borough council interference no doubt. Any other town or city usual welcome such developments as a positive contribution to local facilities.
However in Kilkenny it's usually the opposite....god forbid anybody might try to take business from their beloved High St area

Too true, ive just been told that the decision to abandon the bowling alley was a result of the Council wanting the old meubles store for a new library. Therefore they are "facilitating" the Kilkenny Retail Park/Meubles development. According the Kilkenny County Council website it has yet to be granted permission but work is going ahead on the site.
