Timeslips

This is a thread I just recently put up in my forum, but I thought I'd share it here as well, if anyone was interested. I pretty much did a direct transfer from my site to here, with the exception of removing an irrelevant sentence or two, but everything else is prety much valid.

I've recently rekindled my interest in timeslips, which are defined by Wikipedia as: An alleged paranormal phenomenon in which a person, or group of people, travel through time through supernatural (rather than technological) means. As with all paranormal phenomena, the objective reality of such experiences is disputed.

I find this quite fascinating for many reasons. Firstly because I have an interest in history... secondly, I've also an interest in parallel universes and the like. A list of accounts can be located here if you are looking for more examples.

Either way, I'd be interested in peoples opinions on this phenomena. Do you think they can exist, or do you think there's no merit behind them?

Hey Andy, do you think you have ever experienced this?

I read a good bit about this before actually. Though I'd need an advanced degree in Physcis before I understand the theoretical basis for time travel.

Once again though I'll have to give my standard view of such things; its very cool, I find the stories quite interesting to read, but there's no evidence outside subjective testimony so I have no way of knowing if they're real.

I'm with Zillah on this, its a cool idea but I have no reason to think its anything but fantasy. I can believe experiences that are close or connected to ones I've had myself.

I'm not sure actually... I have entertained the thought a few times, and I'm wondering if some of my stranger childhood experiences could be attributed to this, but I have yet to come up with an answer...

I can understand what you mean by a cool idea, and to be honest, I'd lean more towards the sceptical side, although unless the idea is truly outrageous, I'd see an element of plausability/possibility within it to not completely write it off. I am aware that not everything has been explored yet, so there will always exist a possibility of something, unless, again it's something completely outlandish.

    Andy

Would you think you have come from the future or the past as a result of this phenomenon?

I think Grimes means has Andy slipped backwards or forwards in time as opposed to has he travelled back here from the future.

Yeah thats what I thought. As in, he was implying Andy had originally come from a different time and was now stuck with us :)

I imagine I'd have been born in the wrong time, which would be a closer approximation. What would fit me better though is the term "diagonally parked in a parallel universe". I've not been stuck here... well, most of the time I don't feel like that... :|

    Besides, they're not permenant.

What time do you believe you should have been born in?

No idea to be honest, although I am interested in the Medieval period for some reason...

I don't mean to get personal, but you've been quite open about it before so I assume you won't mind. You have Asperger's Syndrome right? Ever heard of www.wrongplanet.net? Its an Autism/Asperger's forum community. I always thought the name was really cool, it really carried across the notion that such people feel almost as if they were born in the wrong world, that inside their head everything is fine but it seems like they were meant to be somewhere else.

Interesting that you'd go with the time angle rather than space...

I do indeed have Aspergers and you'd be right in assuming I wouldn't mind. :) And yeah, I do feel that sometimes I was born in the wrong world, especially given body language is a bit of a difficult thing for me to understand sometimes, as well as some facial expressions/emotions.

Well, I'd go with both to some extent, but I always had an interest in history, and in some ways, time and space are related in some ways, so perhaps I'm merely looking at that angle from another perspective?
