Andy won last night in the first round by TKO against James Morrow. This fight went completely under the radar?

It's probably due to him fighting again in 2 weeks time on a bigger card .This one was pretty small time and it was just a couple of prospects picking up some experience and Andy was actually headlining it so it wasn't that big news .
The fight being on a Tuesday didn't help .

His next fight has Jonathon Banks(who's getting pretty close to fighting for a World title) headlining and is on a Thursday so will garner a little more interest .

hhhmmmm!!! we'll see - hopefully he will.

No one can accuse him of not being willing to travel, the location of his last fights this year so far - Michigan, Illinois, Ireland, Germany, Tennessee, New York and Nevada

Don't mean to be negative. I can't see Andy coming close to being a legitimate world champion. I would love if he proved me wrong, butttttttt

Yeah, if Manny says so it's good enough for me.

He's the only Irish boxer capable of winning a genuine world title.

Kelly Pavlik and Jermaine Taylor are two reasons...

He's alikeable guy, but the middle division is
such a tough hard hitting division. I think
it's far too early to even make judgement.
If Andy proves he can take a whack and a hard
one at that, then my opinion
    may change.

I'm not saying he can't, because so far he has.

But take a whack from a real worthy challenger still
    awaits him.

Also a punch, has he got enough POP to
really get respect in the division.
The Daniels win was super, but lets not get ahead of
ourselves just yet. What happens when he lands
that and the guy is still standing and still throwing.

That's the real TEST and I hope
    Andt passes it...

Doesn't Andy Lee already serve Taylor in sparring on numerous occasions? At least, that's what I read. I believe the quote was after it was "Jermaine Taylor isn't even the best middleweight in his gym, let alone the world".

Emanuel Steward Describes Taylor’s First Couple Of Weeks In The Gym:

“This ain’t no place to try and be somebody,” laughed Steward. “You come in here with your head up in the clouds, you’re in the wrong place. So Jermain comes in, and he boxes the first time with Andy Lee, a left handed middleweight who’s one of the stars at our gym right now, and they had a real rough and spirited workout. It was nip and tuck. He said, ‘I’m not used to that.’ They boxed again on Friday and there was electricity in the air. Jermain said, ‘I’ve been here for two weeks training. Never once has somebody asked me for my autograph. Nobody’s even asked to take a picture with me.’ I told him, ‘You’ve got to realize that you were taking on the middleweight champion of this gym in Andy Lee. This is his turf right here, and you being the middleweight champion of the world, you’ve got to earn that respect here.’”

    Andy Lee, future world champ!

Means jack **** IMO.....Gyms and actual fights are two different things.
Sure if this were the case then Dunne would be unbeatable as I also
heard how he was 'man handling' Paquiao in the gym....rubbish...
Lee future world champion at 160lbs?, WBA, WBC or IBF?, very doubtful

I think time will prove you wrong on this one Walshb. Andy Lee has all the talent in the world to be a world champ and will be!

Time is definitely the issue, but not too much time I hope. If Lee proves me wrong, I will never have been happier
    to have been wrong.

Does Lee possess the CHIN ,punch and championship stamina?
These questions if answered soon, will definitely sway
me towards believing he can be world champ. Because the kid has
got great technical ability and ring generalship. But the three
traits I mentioned are the PRO games most important....especially
    in the middleweight division.
I firmly believe the higher in weight, the more emphasis and
    importance a punch means...

I think we'll have all our answers before his 20th fight. Still another 2 years away I'd imagine.

Having watched him spar with heavyweights, the most notable being a certain Mr Klitschko during the build up to Klitschko's title fight in Germany not too long back, the lad can ship decent punches from a heavyweight in a competitive sparring bout, and whilst I agree that sparring only tells 20% of whether a fighter can or cannot raise his game, shipping punches from the likes of Klitschko needs more resistence than shipping them from another middleweight.

He sparred with Taylor too, but that was very laid back, and there is no doubt that Taylor has an awful lot more in the locker than Andy does at present.

Be interesting for fight fans to see Andy up close if his fight in Limerick for November comes about, but he has one more fight in October to see out first.

Well fights 13 and 14 will be under his belt by the end of November this year, and he is pencilled in for 4 fights by August 2008, so I would see him hitting the 20 mark in 2008.

Good! More active, the better for Andy!
