    Yo,
Anyone have any idea when the swimming pool will be built next to Leixlip Amenities Centre? Are we talking a few years, or 2023?

There are no plans to build a swimming pool there at the moment.

There was talk of one being built about a year ago.
    I haven't heard anything since.

There has been talk for years, but they are only in the process of developing the current facilities. My sources are incredibly reliable on this and as I said, there are no current plans for a pool there.

Balls. Always though that there was going to be one, cos of local press, etc.
In 2006 agreement was reached by all parties at Leixlip Amenities Centre for a three-phased approach to deliver the North Kildare swimming pool.

Also was hoping that the work that was being done out that way for the past few weeks had something to do with it:(

They haven't even finished phase one yet.

:rolleyes:Phase 1 of the North Kildare Swimming Pool at the Leixlip Amenites Centre is now complete.
Phase 2 is an eight lane Atheltics track due to commence in 09
Phase 3 is additional All Weather pitches and Tennis Courts

And the Final Phase is The North Kldare Swimming Pool.

The Amenities is number 24 on a list waiting for funding for the pool.

So realy your talking about 3 years for the Pool to be built.

I remember a grand prize draw taking place in Leixlip back in the early 80's for a swimming pool up there. Still waiting...

The Pool costs in excess of 10 million. The site is available and as soon as the funding is made available works will begin:)

Do you for for the Amenos?

And if so, can you check to see if there's an Astro pitch available for tonight from 7:30 till 8:30 or tomorrow night :P

Amz, as a mod, your "incredibly reliable" information sources should be checked on before you state things categorically. People tend to take what mods say as being true. In this instance you and your sources are wrong.
Phase 1 is complete, and has been operational since November 2007, and as Ameno pointed out, the process has begun on the Swimming Pool project - albeit it at an early stage.
And to clarify, Phase 1 consisted of Outdoor tennis Courts and 'astro' pitches, along with temporary carparking areas.
The fourth - Pool Phase has been incorporated into the general planning of the redevelopment works currently underway.

There was also about 30,000 punts raised for one in Maynooth which, at last time of checking, was raising a few % interest a year in a locked-down bank account belonging to the council...

Well gman, if people can't understand the fact that I'm not a moderator of the Kildare forum that's not my problem. Also, please check the date on my original post, it is over a year old.

I'm not going to enter into a discussion on this with you because you're clearly championing the cause of LAG Ltd. so it would be rather pointless.

Talk about looking before you leap...

Anyway, this whole zombie thread can go back into the depths of time where it should have stayed.
