VRT Query

    Hi Folks,

I got stopped by customs last week and was told to pay VRT on my car.
He said I should get a letter in the post.
My car was off the road so I wasn't using it until 2/3 months ago.
I have the car 13 months.

Do I take the VRT date from when I bought it or when I declare it?
Also, is there any fines for late payment...

    Thanks in Advance...

From the date you declare it. If they ask any questions you only brought it into the country !

cheers...but isn't the sale date on the V5 doc?

What documentation do I need to bring with me?

You just need the V5, they will get you to fill out another form in there.

You also need to bring your PPS number (RSI number)

You only pay VRT from the date you declare it.
