Pat Kenny does it again.

Did anyone else just hear the interview Prat Kenny just did with Marie Helvin, the ex-model?

In relation to make-up artists spitting on their brushes before dipping them in powder he clearly said that would not be allowed to happen now because of the HIV risk. He implied that there is a risk of contracting HIV through saliva. :eek:

This is blatant and dangerous misinformation.

If he has no knowledge of the HIV virus, then why mention it? Mention something about it on LIVE RADIO even? I dont think he has to know everything about everything, I think what he DOES have to have, to claim to be a good tv/radio personality, is the ability to hold a valid, interesting and entertaining conversation with someone, which Kenny is laughable at. There are thousands of ways to respond to what she said, and the only response he can come up with is something that is embarassingly incorrect? Credit where credit is due, my hole.

In live radio a mistake can be made and there is very little way of correcting it.

What do we want on live radio, someone parsing and analyzing every word and sentence.

True, but you did say "credit where credit is due". I'm arguing he doesn't deserve credit.

So while he may be somewhat inaccurate in his statement - in that the risk is extremely minimal, he's not completely wrong...

Pat Kenny like his cohort Gerry Ryan, is grossly overpaid for what he does. Although he appears to be well educated and fluent in matters scientific, he is totally unsuited to general interviewing practices and certainly void of any sense of humor..
Only last Friday on the Late Late Show Enrique Inglesias remarked how serious he was and how he should try to lighten up. He is indeed a plank and like Gay Byrne and Larry Gogan will go on and on for ever.

I would certainly agree with the overpaid bit,and I would add on a good few more RTE "personalities" as well.

I would agree that Kenny is as dry as a witches tit, but I will give him this.

He is usually very much on top of his brief in most matters,not only those of a scientific nature.

You got to give him credit for that.

Got to agree with the Banty on this. Its a rare faux pas on his radio show.

I'm very critical of Pat Kenny the Late Late Show host, but Pat Kenny the radio presenter is strangely a different beast and is normally a damn good two hours.

We all know that The Late Late Show is light, Pat can't do light. But the radio show is mostly a serious news/magazine programme. So, for Pat to slip up in that fashion on the radio show is uncharacteristic.

Regardless of the HIV risk there are many other infections that are readily transmitted through saliva, mononucleosis herpes etc.

Of course Prat Kenny wasn't RTE's first choice to take over from Gaybo...its was another PK, Pratrick Kielty the "comedian", shows you how "lite" and "dumbed-down" the Late Late was gonna be! So PK1 turned it down, PK2 took second best choice, he should have stuck with "Kenny Live"!

Look for Tubridy to be given the LLS when PK2 hangs up his stripey shirt!
