sit n go's - where to next?

    Hi all,

I’ve been grinding away on pokerstars now for the past 8-9 months playing $11 more recently $25 sit n go’s.
I’ve worked my initial 100 euro deposit into $2000 dollars and looking at sharkscope my ROI is 32% over near 300 games.
The next level above is $39 dollar sit n go’s and I have noticed these are a little better in standard…..should I start playing these now or should I hold off until I reach say 3000 dollars….?.... is 300 games a big enough sample to gauge from?
For all you strictly STT players, how many buyins do you give yourself before moving up a level….and also in a downswing at what point would you drop down a level….?
I’ve found in the past that I’ll stick to the same level in a bad period and have been lucky enough not to go bust a couple times in the first couple months…

    Any opinions welcome!

32% is pretty dam good for STTs 300 is not a lot but enough to get a rough idea. How many have you played at $25? Best get an idea of a ROI at $25's before moving to $39's.

You should probably have about 40 buy-ins so you are definitely comfortable right now. When moving up I think its best to sort of straddle between your current level and the one above you until you are winning at that level and rolled for it. At some point you will run bad enough where you may feel moving down is your best option but thats purely a judgement call really. i would try and avoid playing any level with less that 25-30 buy ins.

For September I played 104 times (from 9th September almost all were $4 180 player PokerStars Sit & Go) and was in the money 19 times (18%) for a ROI of 41%.

My profit for the month was $247, which was a poor return for perhaps 300 hours play.

In one tourney with two tables of five left it was folded to me in the small blind. I called with KK, slowplaying, and hoping for action from the big blind. The flop was 356 all diamond. The big blind held 47 diamonds, and I started to bet (holding K diamonds).

Before September my Ripwave broadband was so inconsistent I couldn't rely on playing without timing out, or being disconnected.

My four attempts at 180 player $22 S & G were unsuccessful. I thought the players were shoving more at that level, and it was crapshooty. I want to know is there an improvement in play at higher buyins 180 player Sit & Gos.

It gives no. of games and ROI per level so you can get a decent idea of it. $2k is more than enough to take a couple of shots at $39's. If you are going to give them a shot then set a number that you are going to play before judging how you are getting on as its easy to get a little disheartened starting with a bad streak.

The standard doesn't jump too much between any of the levels from what i've seen just a few less players willing to dump off their chips each time.

found it...my ROI between 20 - 30 is better than overall at $20 its 46% to $30 35%..... i must be running good for my small sample

There pretty good stats stick in 100 or so at $39 and things are still going so well then you should think about moving up again. Maybe we'll be seeing you at the $1k turbo's in 12 months time!

Under 300 STT's in 9 months? Play more! Depends if your playing 6 max or full ring, normal or turbo.

    My stats are
    stt.jpg

Which I ran up from $40 bucks. I think 25 BI's is fine for STT's maybe more for the turbo games which I play. But your sample size is nowhere near good enough to determine moving up as you can see pretty much all my games are around the $10 mark.

When I played STTs I was really slow moving up I just didn't want to move out of my comfort zone, once you've moved up a few times you get used to it and the transitions become easier. Find a bankroll size that you feel comfortable with and then play the next level up as soon as you hit that size and then move down again if you get off to a bad start. IE when you hit $3k play 4 or 5 at $55 and if you lose then go back down until you reach $3k again. For some people the number is 100 buy-ins some are fine at 60 or 40 and then there are degen gamblers who take dive straight in with 15 buy-ins. But they are the one's that subscribe to the bluescouse bankroll management guide.

How sustainable do you think these stats are?
The reason I showed my friends one is that it can't just be a coincidence that the two of us are running hot.

These stats are from a new Titan acc that I set up last week because there was $25 free, I played the $5 level on ipoker until I had 20 buy ins, have played 2 $10 ones so far with a first and second.
The 20 person $5 on ipoker are the easist ever to win, I have played $5 on stars and find them a lot more difficult than ipoker and they take a lot longer to win as well. I think you could make a way better win rate on ipoker rather than stars at lower levels anyway.

You don't have enough games to get a good idea.
I after moving up levels st the start of the year I ran incredibly hot and almost went straight through, it then took a dive and downswing kicked in, i picked up some bad habits here.

I was running at 75-80% imo, with 50% finishes in first, this was 10 handed tables. And comes to over 200% ROI

My most recent 100 $22 STTs I've ran at -38%.
    The previous 4x100s were +36%, +28%, -2%, +19%.

They are far streakier and high-variance than I previously gave them credit for.
