I am currently studying for my Hons degree in Analytical chemistry with Quality management at CIT , I will finish in May2008 and I am strongly thinking of moving to Australia for the year and perhaps get a permanent visa if possible, I have a couple of questions.

1.What is the standard of living like in Australia in comparison to ireland ?

2.Are the Salaries in Australia better ,worse or the same as ireland?

3.How does the cost of living compare?

4.How much cheaper would a house in Australia be as oposed to Ireland?

    1. Much better, its like Ireland, but with sun, a better health system, better education, decent roads, trained drivers and begrudgery is shunned.

    2. Equal (although it depends on the role) you wont find yourself any richer, but the salary in dollars will keep the same quality of life as what you had in Ireland.

    3. Was a lot cheaper, but has equalised over the past 5 years.

    4. It wont be. It will most likely be more expensive, also mortgage interest rates are higher.

Getting a permanent visa may not be as easy as you may think either. Its a country a lot of people want to move to, and while the Irish have it better than say a South African, you are going to need to have a skill they want to keep. That said though, good luck, I hope you like the place, stay away from Sydney though, its too busy, Brisbane also, its getting impossible to find accomodation apparently.
