In the space of 5 mins I've got about 12 spam emails at different times stating the mail I sent didn't deliver, from various post masters sent to various addresses. I mean I've always gotten spam, but never this bad. I woke up to 24 emails, so that's about 40 altogether in the space of 8 hours:mad:

Well I haven't sent any mails from the address in a good while, I just got another 35 mails since I started this thread (5 mins ago or something!)

It sounds to me as if someone is spoofing your email address.

Count yourself lucky. I get an average of 150 - 200 spam emails a day, every day.

Sounds like you got chosen as the luck victim to have your email address spoofed as the reply to address for a spam run.

What's this spoof thing? Haven't heard of it before. Up to about 200 emails now so far this morning! On track to beat you Mountjoy Mugger:mad:

So up to about 400 now this morning. Is this likely to continue all day/week/month/year/decade at the same rate:eek: :(

That's nothing.. i have had customers with 40,000 a day or more...

You sure you are not sending them? I do not mean you personally.. i mean you could have a mail virus that's sending them out.

Pretty sure, I hope so anyway, how would I check? I have AVG mail scanner and it's not reporting anything. Where would I be getting all the addresses if I was sending them? There's google group addresses and everything and all the recipient addresses are just randomwords@mydomain.ie

Set up a rule so that any emails coming from / going to that address or containing that address (if you don't use it) go to the deleted items folder.

Did you leave your email address online (unencrypted) anywhere in public view?
If so, a spambot could have recorded it and could have stuck you on their mailing list!

Seems it's died down now thankfully, wonder what all that was about? I only got 3 in the space of about 9 hours since last night, which is the usual amount.

What do you mean unencrypted email online anywhere? As in, have I the address just typed joeyjoe@domain.com without any coding behind it?

I was getting a load of spam on my eircom mail account.. so what I did was open a gmail account, setup the gmail account to receive the email from the eircom account (gmail can act like a pop client).. then setup my client with the gmail account's pop server and get all my relevant emails spam free in outlook..
