sometimes, with a digital camera, you can see if a remote control is working, looking at the camera lcd and pressing buttons on the remote, the remote ir bulb should light up when viewed through digital camera lcd screen

can be a handy way to test that that a remote or in this case the sender eye is functioning at all

    Thanks, eolhc

Just to be sure I understand you - if I look at the mage eye thru my digital camera screen while pressing the remote to change channels, I should see the magic eye lcd light up if it's working?

Sorry, I'm a real tech dummy and have to have it all spelled out to me!

The magic eye should be directly in front of the light on the sky box that goes red briefly when you change channel, am I right on that?

    I suppose it's possible I got a dodgy one.

yeah that would at least tell you if some sort of ir signal was being sent

the magic eye would need to be right in front of where the ir receiver in the skybox is (usually a black square), not always near the red light

    hi
sorry for delay in reply - struck down with a bug.
I tried what you suggested and can see no light coming on on the magic eye when I press the remote control.

Does this mean I have a faulty eye or could it be the wireless broadband interfering with it sending a signal. Is it ok to plug out the wireless router box and see if that makes a difference?

Sorry, really dont have a clue when it comes to gadgets - thanks for the advice.

if its close to the router you might get interference, but usually youll just get lines on the picture. You are getting a picture being sent right? Most router can be plugged in and out without any problems, so you could plug it out to test.

If the remote is working and the picture is being sent, but the remote signal isn't being sent then it sounds like its faulty.

not really familiar with that model of sender, so cant really think of what else would be wrong
