Hey everyone, I'm just wondering if its normal to see floaters at 15/16? I've seen them for as long as I can remember but I'm starting to notice them alot more. Would an optician do anything about it? I've read there harmless and fade away but I've also read they happen in middle-age so what the hell?

    Thanks:)

They're pretty common, I have a few in my left eye. Kind of like translucent thread. Can't spot them right now.

Floaters are completly harmless, they are only cells and bits of protein. The only time to worry is if there is a dramatic increase in the number or a kinda snow storm effect

most people have them but dont notice most the time. They dont recommend surgery as its very risky.

i think the floaters look like the ebola virus... similar to in that movie Outbreak!

Oops, for a second I thought I landed in the wrong forum going by the thread title ;)

Yes, had them for as long as I can remember. Even as a kid I tried chasing them up with my eye but they seemed to almost always drop out of sight once you focused on them. There was another thread on them here but can't find it now. Anyway, nothing to worry about but I doubt you can get rid of them. You'll "overlook" them after while just don't think about them.

    Best,

    Preusse

Is focusing on the floaters a psychological thing? I have a friend who can see them when he's feeling very anxious or depressed, but doesn't see them any other time.
