    Hi all,
I remember hearing somewhere that each time you save a jpg the the compression algorithm is carried out on the file leading to artifacts eventually appearing in the graphic.

    Is this true ?
should I be taking my photos off my camera and converting them to an uncompressed format or using a copy of the original each time I edit? if you know what I mean....

That's correct. It is why many photographers use raw or even tiff. Open a jpg and save it, and it will have been compressed further.
