I'm looking to get a tripod for my 400d but I'm a bit clueless about it all. Would my camera fit on any tripod ro do I need some extra fittings?

    I'm thinking of this one:

    http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=99654

    Any thoughts or recommendations?

edit: BTW, I can spend more if needs be but don't really want to go more than 40 or 50... guess I'm looking for a "value" one!

Don't opt for a cheap tripod. You'll regret it in the long run. Spend twice your budget (and a bit more) and go for a Manfrotto. When you consider that a tripod can make the single most significant impact on your photography it makes sense to get a good one.

To answer your question most photo tripods have the same fitting that will screw directly into the bottom of the 400D.

If your getting serious about photography, then carrigman is correct, you may as well spend a bit more now and get a decent tripod that will last you a v.long time. If however, if your just starting off and are not too sure of what type of photography you'll be getting into, then a nice "value" tripod could be fine for starters.
I had a €28 "Silk" tripod that I used while traveling around Asia for 5 months and it was brilliant for what I needed, Ive since bought a Manfrotto 190proB and have given that silk to a mate just starting off.

You might be better off going to some of the camera shops and having a look at the tripods. Even if you end up buying the same model online if it's cheaper. I bought one of the 7dayshop ones a few years back and was disgusted with what eventually arrived in the post. The quality was rubbish and didn't come anywhere near the description on their site. It was described as a "professional" tripod and came nowhere near the quality of the cheap ones available through argos. Funny enough they never added my "product review" on the site. I don't think I've ever seen a negative review on 7dayshop...
