Hi, I'm a complete noob when it comes to bike repair.
I just got a mountain bike(3 years sitting in his shed) from my brother, and the gear change mechanism does not seem to be working, and the brakes are iffy to say the least. Does anyone know of a good repair shop in the Blanchardstown area?
    Thanks in advance,
    Stublore

I guess Stagg in Lucan is the closes good bike shop, so (only a short ride away)

Not Blanchardstown but not far away - Stagg Cycles in Lucan village might help, or at least point you in the right direction. A phone call will probably get the info you need.
When you go over the river, turn right into Lucan village and they are about 200 metres down on the left.

Thanks daymobrew, rp, will give them a ring during the week.

    there is nothing in blanchardstown
Halfords is a serious joke. Do not even try.
The best place i can recommend for proffesional repairs is cycleways on parnel street.
It's some distance from D15 but the guys are very qualified and have the proper tools.

Ah now there are plenty of other places to get a good moan about halfords in....a ancient thread is a bad choice.

Ive heard some stories about cycleways ****ing up some seriously expensive stuff. Although personally I find them to be sound.

All bike shops have their issues, Halfords blanch is like a after thought when they built the shop, There are other halfords who aint as unappealing.

How do you know the guys in cycleways are very qualified? Halfords have a big cabinet behind the desk full of VAR tools......id call all of them proper tools. I mean a headset press....I can see how that could be a fake tool:rolleyes:

I don't think the Mulhuddart shop is a Eurocycles branch, hence it really is just BSOs and buggies. Checked it out before, even my POS was better than what's on offer. Always a shame to go into a bike shop and only find sensible gear on offer :).

Theres Staggs in Lucan and Humphries in Finglas, City Cycles in Cabra and the end of Manor Street. I've only ever used Staggs which were decent, if always busy.

Just breathing life into this old thread , the shop is great now and under new ownership the past few years, the repair service is great and reasonable, and most important, quick.

What I was saying two years ago , was that your shop sold overpriced BSO.
Everybody here knows that you have ex cyclogical staff. Why did you run a search for eurocycles and decide to post in a two year old thread a 1am?, makes you look like your looking for a argument or just locked or both.

Do you actually own the shop LOL

Yes, and I was doing some market research. We never had that staff you talk about. just me and a nephew. and the tread is there to posted in, what ever the age.

Its not clear but I assume your talking about the Mulhuddart shop.

Do you have a website and what are the opening hours. I've not been back in 2yrs to see what changes there are. Might pop in and see what its like now.

Yes its better now with focus put on repares at the right price, resonable. Our bike range is still higher than halfords and the big chains but the quality is by fare superior. We are doing our best to keep out heads up in this low economy as a good local bike shop. We feel that the big chain not aim but are putting smaller local out of business. In sight of this we are by fare better in customer relations and support with regards to parts and accessories.
