    Hi all,

I've got to organise the next date for me and this guy this weekend.I want to include food but am looking for somewhere that has a good atmosphere and music in the background you know relaxed not too formal but nice food. Is there any nice wine bars that do this kinda thing in Dublin City centre.
Also I haven't dated in ages so any tips would be great. We've only been out once before - last week.

    Good for you!!

Salamanca (St Andrews St) is nice with good tapas / Spanish food and a big wine menu.... I think there is music on in the background there. In any event, the place is so lively there will be plenty going on to chat about. Also The Port House is nice for just tapas and wine... Both are within a couple of miniutes of each other.

You could go on then to catch a comedy show in The International Bar or have a drink in one of the many bars in the area... Enjoy!

Davechenzos off Leeson street. Very nice food and nice small place where you can have a nice drink and chat.

Nah, Port House on South William St. Best place, nice atmosphere, fantastic food, and an arms length from some nice places for drinks after, Ba Mizu, Dakota, The market bar etc.

Thanks so much so far. Am leaning toward the Port House. Gets great reviews on menupages also with a few saying it's great for a romantic night or a date. I Don't get out much in the city so am lost as to best places.
Do any of you know do they take bookings and also is it only the tapas menu available as I'd like there to be a variety - not knowing all his likes/dislikes foodwise.
I think after a glass of wine I'll be ok - we got on well on previous date but the 2nd one I feel is always the tell tale one!

Is that the tapas bar next to lemon? If it is then I second it because I've heard great things about it and having been in there but unable to get a table I'd suggest heading relatively early.

I think you need to book.....

Dont put pressure on yourself as its a 2nd date.... Each date is equally important. Enjoy and good luck

The Porthouse is lovely but you can't book it as far as I know. The only time I've ever gotten a place in it was a Sunday evening.

The Market Bar is nice? Tapas and drinks. No need to book, can be busy, but food is nice and it is quite relaxed...not sure if there is music though!

The port house is lovely but you can't book it and its very busy every night.

What about Havana on Georges St? Also can't book it but not so busy. They will let you stay there over drinks and or more food for as long as you like. If you're there after 11 they move aside the tables and do salsa dancing. Its good craic.

It tends to be very loud though, fine for a drink but maybe not so good for a 2nd date where you want to be able to chat easily. It's a shame Port House don't take reservations, still never managed get a table there as it's always so busy. Maybe you could ring and ask what time there would most likely be free tables. It's looks very romantic and cosy inside! :D
