    Hi Folks

I'm working in South Dublin near Bray and I'm looking for a 3 month gym membership somewhere more or less in the area - say south of Stillorgan. I'm not having any joy so far - (total fitness and westwood) both demand a 12 month minimum. Can anyone suggest anything to help me out?

    Thanks for your help
    Sean

Benildus Health & Fitness club in Stillorgan offers a resonable pirced day-pass (think it is €8.50 peak, €6 off-peak) and you can sign up as well for 3months.

Thanks for that Martin, I'm actually looking for somewhere with a pool if possible.

    Cheers

Check out glenalbyn in Stillorgan. That is just a pool. There is a GAA club in the same grounds though with what appears to be a reasonably good gym. If you join the GAA club you'll be able to use it, and it would be cheap. You might need someone to refer you to join though.

    Cool, thanks for that pwd.

On a related point why is so difficult to get membership offers of <12 months? Surely if some customers want this it should be a good idea for companies to provide the service?

Thanks again for all your help further suggestions welcomed.

A lot of people will pay for a year and barely use the gym after the first month. Free money for the gym.

    Yep, new year resolutionites.

And if you joined for 3 months it could give you time to discover various bad points about some gyms, getting packed, dirty, lack of equipment, lack of advice from instructors etc.

Read all the fine print in the contract, in some gyms it seems like you have to give 6 written notices from a solicitor that you want to cancel your contract even before you join ;)

It doesn't have a pool but i used to use the Loughlinstown leisure centre in Loughlinstown. You can join month by month. It's €50 for a months membership. You'll need a car though, it's in a housing estate that gets a little dodgy towards the end. I never minded though because i just drove there and drove out!

Loughlinstown leisure centre is excellent. You can do pay as you go sessions for reasonable rates too.
The estate it's in is grand. I used to live near enough to it and walked through it enough times to know.

    Thanks again for your help
