Exercise for improving push-pull strength?

    Hi all.
    I was wondering whats a good exercise to improving push-pulling strength.Im thinking somewhere in the shoulder muscles.Im already do standard bicep curls and the like but what upper body muscles are most used ?

    Also can anybody give me the name of the set of muscles just over the shoulder blades?very handy for carrying heavy weights!:D

    I'd stop doing bicep curls, they're next to useless.

    Do Pulls & Deadlifts for pulling strength, and the shoulder press/bench press for pushing strengh. You also should be squatting.

    The muscles on the back above the shoulder blades are called you trapezius muscles.

    For push I found the cable chest press and the various fly movements very good at building up pecks.

    Hmmm….. My cheecky suggestion is to push some things, and pull other things?

    I know that might sound like an over simplification but it's about the most obvious advice there is. Replicate movement under tension in the range of motion you need to operate.

    For Pull do Chins, Pull Ups, Rows, Deadlifts. When you have those down venture into cleans, snatches, anything with hip drive.

    For Push do Push Ups, Benching, Shoulder Press and Push Press.

    Ensure your shoulder health for both by working in scapular retraction and the S.I.T.S muscles ( your rotator cuffs ).

    Work your other bodyparts equally. Ensure you do leg work, mainly around heavy free weights such as Squats, Front Squats, Lunges and unilateral work as well.

    Eat well around 6 times a day, filtering you carbs in before and after your workouts.

    Drink plenty of water.

    Get plenty of sleep.

    You'll soon start seeing the increase you want.

    Remmy- what are you planning on doing that requires you to have good "pushing and pulling" strength? You are telling us what you think the solution to the problem is, but no details on the problem itself- i.e. there might be more things you should be doing to achieve your goals.
