Car crashed by garage

    Hello all,

My car was recently crashed and written off by a garage when it was left in for a service. Has anyone had any experience of this situation?

I've been offered the price of the car, not the price of getting a replacement car, and nothing in terms of compensation...

I'm unsure as to whether this is reasonable by the garage and if further down the line I take legal action and bring the individual to court whether I have any sort of case..

Help for the less informed appreciated,

    Zeitgeist

Based on the assumption you have insurance, recource via your insurers is the best mechanism. In addition, your insurers would cover the costs of the hire, replacement etc.

I would insist on them replacing the car with at least same make and model, they could do it easily enough being in the trade.
And what part of servicing a car involves driving around in it?

Most garages will test drive a car after the servicing. The one I go to asks me if I dont mind it being done.
