Is it true that not all women can have a muscular looking stomach? My friend told me that not all women can have a 6 pack. I would like to do ab exercises to see if i can get one. :) Any suggestions on what I can do?

    In a nutshell:
    • lower your bodyfat to single digits to be able to see the abs
    • work on heavy squats, overhead squats, deadlifts, planks, various core exercises.. then ab crunches lastly.. to build up the abs
    • eat less junk... to avoid a layer of fat covering the abs
    • read the diet and nutrition links on the fitness index page
    • work hard in the gym

As someone on here once said "abs are made in the kitchen, not in the gym". Good luck.

Great advice!!! I think pilates works your core out really well too. Findyourdetour.com has some great info check it out and see what else they have to say.

Sorry but i have to correct this point, Fitness competitors get the bodyfat usually between 8-10% AFAIK but they do not keep it all year round. For a girl dropping your bodyfat that low for sustained periods is not healthy.

Yes women like men need to drop their body fat to see a six pack but not to the same amount (as we have a higher level of essesntial fat). When g'em got shredded i think she was at 12-13%, and even that is very low for a girl.

Everything else is spot on, though just wanted to correct the one point!!

If you are going to do targeted ab work, then make sure you're doing some lower back work too. It'll prvent back pain and keep everything balanced.

Things like hyperextentions are good. Squats and deadlifts are better if you're feeling it!
