I presume you mean a certain venue on Dame St. Dunno why it's starred. If that's what you mean then no. I was at one of their shows. There were no cameras.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Ah right. I thought it was part of the new series.

They did a live show for the Bulmers Comedy Festival in the ******* a few weeks back. It's not going to be broadcast, but they announced at the live show that it'd be back on telly in October, as per above.

Had intended to go along to that one but thought it was on in !!!!!!!!!!!. Wrong venue of course. They though it was on in ######## so I headed down there. Wrong again. Boy was I mad when I heard it was just up the road in *******.

@ were playing in !!!!!!!!!!!! that night, and ######### was being prepared for a performance by %%%%%%%%%, so the only place it could have been held was ********.

question is have they found a funny woman yet?

Just applied for some tickets there.

A bit off topic, but Colin Murphy is doing a gig in Vicar St the 26th October.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

I dunno if he'd be as funny on his own. I think he kinda needs the rest of the Panel members to keep the comedy flowing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,396 ✭✭✭✭kaimera

Seen him live in UL 2 years ago I'd say.

Much funnier live imo. Got table tickets for him up near the front.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Oh cool. Close enough for him to sweat all over you. Mmmmmm attractive. heh

We got an e-mail in work about audience tickets. It mentioned a couple of places, Draíocht in Blanchardstown and the Mermaid in Bray were two, but I don't recall seeing any mention of a venue in Dame Street.

is neil dellamere still on the panel , cant stand that guy , not only is he not funny , hes down right nasty that guy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 829 ✭✭✭standbyme

JENNY HUSTON is one of the panellists?

That'll be interesting, but i gotta say anytime the radio is on Sat after the football i turn over to see what tunes she has on & turn out to be better than Alice Cooper's weird selections at times IMO.

I hear Maired Farrell former panellist has her own show on telly but i cant remember the format, but i have seen it elsewhere recently.

Is Dara going to be back hosting?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,129 ✭✭✭Nightwish

Jenny Huston is positively dire. That guy from Liverpool, John something or other is brilliant. I really enjoyed his views on the election earlier this year and he was excellent at the Cat Laughs too. Ed Byrne???? He is Irelands unfunniest man, seriously I think the Brits are the only people who like him. Where's my favourite little guy Andrew Maxwell? He's the best!

I'd like to know this, too. He was on Tubridy Tonight....erm... tonight. But I missed it.

For anyone who saw it, did he mention anything about it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,473 ✭✭✭✭Our man in Havana

Mock the week finished up last thursday so the way is clear for Dara to host the panel.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,509 ✭✭✭Daemonic

He mentioned that it didn't feel right hosting a topical show like The Panel when he's not living here, odd seeing as most of the panellists don't live here. This would suggest he won't be the host though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 44,200 ✭✭✭✭Basq

As i said before as a huge fan of Dara O Briain, no-one really appreciated him until he left.

While everyone was rambling on about Colin Murphy, Neil Delamere (only good thing on it right now) and Andrew Maxell - i have always stood by the fact that Dara held the show together.

And last series with Colin hosting (poorly) just proved that! Colin is a very funny guy.. but he cannot host.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,105 ✭✭✭hiscan

doesnt look like it, colin murphy id say

sorry didnt realise i was still reading the last post of the first page

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,342 ✭✭✭✭That_Guy

Ah good old Maxwell. So random

"Do you know Pandas? They like bamboo"
*imitating Charlie Haughey* "People of Ireland.... Go **** yourselves"

    Priceless quotes.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,178 ✭✭✭kevmy

Dara has said he will present some but not the first couple of episodes anyway. We're going to have to wait a few more weeks to see him back presenting

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 883 ✭✭✭moe_sizlak

dont like dara o brien , hes what i call a corporate comedian , not as much as patrick kielty is but he,s clearly a very ambitous man and great comedians are never ambitous
in fact there more often than not quite disturbed , i.e tommy tiernan
o brien is a very intelligent man and he would be ok if he was on tv fronting something other than comedy
oh and i agree with the person who said ed byrne is irelands unfunniest man
i still perfer him though than the unpleasant sneer that is neil dellamere

and please no , dont have on jenny houston , she has great taste in music but shes the biggest dose ive ever heard on the airwaves plus shes everywhere nowadays , what with her annoyingly heavily pronounced accent

I can see what your saying about Dara O'Briain but I am incapable of not liking him. He's also very good at presenting these kind of things "Mock the Week" "The Panel" etc

Also I"ve seen him and Tommy Tiernan both live and I have to say Dara is much better at funny off the cuff banter than Tommy

The letter bit is comic genius.I'll miss Aoibhinn but we'll see how the 2fm one does.Should be a good show tonight.

The Panel isn't The Panel without Dara O Briain. As said, Colin Murphy can be quite funny but as a host he is just annoying. I watch it for people like Neil Delaware but it went downhill since Dara left.

Try not to use the number 4 in place of the word "for" and you may have a chance.

Here is Daire on Tubridy at the w/end for anyone who's missing his witty ways.

Colin Murphy's ok, but as a host he mutters too much to get the sentence out :o

I thought it was quite good last night, at first when I saw that English guy on again I was going to switch of but he was quite good, the woman from 2fm added nothing at all though.

Agreed, I quite like the English fella... It's gas how he himself says he hasn't a clue about what's going on in ireland... And as always the token female was terrible, shocker...

Is last nights show gonna be on the RTE website soon? I missed it cos my room-mate was watching Prison Break...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 515 ✭✭✭steve 0

Not sure about when its online but its repeated late Friday night on RTE 2.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 9,082 ✭✭✭lostexpectation

I thought heuston did okay last night again she wasn't funny but kept the show going and she had plenty to say, she did take the piss out of the memory guy well, but please get a comedian on!!!

    aoibhean ultimately was ****.

mygod james cromwell is such a comie, but what a great guy.

oh look a blog post about being on the show from the memory guy

    http://zoomy.blogspot.com/2007/10/th-cliath.html

colin shouldn't do the hosting but I also think its the problem with balance, with a foreign guy and non-comedianne, the camera was mostly on the the right side without colin murphy on the left to interject and babble on...

the show can be hit and miss but its still great although they shouldn't do resort to weird animal stories so much, there plenty of irish stories the escaped monkey thing fell flat last night.

It was nice to put a face to the voice of Jenny Huston, but then again i thought the same bout Tubridy when he was on The Full Irish :D

Oh, I don't know about that. She does have a pretty nice rack on her which is worth something! ;):D I'm hoping they bring back Aoife Ni Thurisig on again at some point, though. Now there's a fine, well-equipped woman! ;):D

Anyone else spot the mistake in the opening credits, by the way? Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure they spelt Jenny Huston's name Hudson.

I can't believe you called Tommy Tiernan a "great comedian" and dismissed Dara O'Briain as a "corporate comedian" in the same paragraph! The sum of Tommy Tiernan's comedic experience is the ability to shout really loudly and make funny facial expressions.

I watched the first half of it the other day... wasn't very impressed. I don't like the English bloke at all. I seem to remember him making an appearance before. The token female wasn't funny at all (shock, horror). I like Colin, but he pales in comparison to Dara as a host. Ed Byrne = suckfest. Neil Delamare... I'm in two minds about him really. He certainly has his moments.

Andrew Maxwell is not the kind of person I would like to go out on the p*ss with, BUT, I have to say he's great on the Panel.

Agreed. He's someone most people would start off disliking but grow to like.

Monday night's Panel was the worst I've ever seen. Ed was as unfunny as ever. Neil didn't offer much at all, I usually like him. Colin's too serious as a host and I can't remember him cracking one joke all night. John Bishop was alright. He doesn't know when to end a joke though.

Dara hosting, Colm sitting beside Neil, and Andrew over the opposite side covering for whichever unfunny person is sitting beside him. That's the way it should be. Andrew was badly missed on Monday though. It got a bit too serious when James Cromwell was there, Andrew would change that.

did you not see the show of his on paramount about the screaming donkey and jazz and life and everything .. genius...

It is a pity that all of the Panelist seem to want to get a joke in every second.

James Cromwell was a very interesting and funny guest none of them needed to be funny, but Neil Delamere had to ask if he threw poo as someone ha ha very ****ing funny.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,899 ✭✭✭grimm2005

pretty disappointing episode there imo. i'll continue to watch and hope it gets better but in the meantime i'll be sky +'ing the always hilarious 8 out of 10 cats which starts on challenge on monday (yes i know, all repeats but i missed the first 4 series :D )

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

What ye think of it tonight? :)

I thought Neil was better than Colin as the host, and Colin was hilarious tonight as a panelist! :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,976 ✭✭✭✭humanji

I thought it was a fairly dodgy episode. I'm no lover of it anyway, but it was pretty bad tonight.
