This looks quite dodgy...the website is extremely unprofessional, and asking for bank details!

Anyone had experience with these guys?

I did two jobs for them in the last few months and didn't have any problems, and will do another in the middle of October - very nice to talk to and very helpful, they pay by Paypal as well. A genuine company. Hope this reassures everyone :)

With one post to your name I find it just as reassuring as the OP with (drumroll) one post also!

I think you are spamming and will report you.

Nice first post!! no dont tell me, you've been lurking around here waiting for this really interesting mystery shopper thread to appear!!

I've done mystery shopping and was introduced to it by someone posting in this forum.

But it's a different crowd to the OP here. All I gave was my name and address and got paid by cheque. No bank details were involved.

    This thread seems dodgy allright.

    Hi guys,

I'm so sorry if my post has caused offence to anybody - I was referred here by my Irish friend (I'm based in the UK) who also allocates mystery shopping assignments. I can assure you we are not spammers, scammers, or anything else with two m's in!

Mystery Outsource has been trading since December 2006. Our clients are mystery shopping companies who outsource work to us to allocate, project manage etc. The shopper application form is part of the Prophet mystery shopping software system.

Re bank details, we do not have the facilities to pay Irish shoppers by bank transfer (as we do for UK shoppers) and offer Paypal as an alternative method, so that we may pay in Euros, rather than sterling. So there is no need to include your bank details on the shopper registration form.

Our clients include Mystery Customer Evaluations, BARE Associates, JKS Mystery Shopping and Kerry CRM amongst others.

Please do let me know how I can further reassure you!

    Hi all

Oh please be nice to her-I was the one who suggested she post on the forum

I have recruited off Boards myself and I am sure if I were a scam I would have been barred by now-
This is a legit UK company who have some casual work over here and are seeking some shoppers to have on their database and she is a friend who I have worked with and I suggested she join Boards and put up a notice

If any of you are in any why suspicious of the company please feel free to email me and I will answer any questions you have

    Thanks
    Eileen

Is there a joining fee or any kind of fee for being a mystery shopper?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 19,986 ✭✭✭✭mikemac

Yeah, I've dealt with Eileen (hi :) ) and I'm hardly a new poster around here.
    I'd say it's legit.
Good craic too, especially getting paid to drink pints in different pubs, easiest money I've ever earned. :D

I never got to view the link, just thought bank details seemed very strange.

No! :) As well as allocating assignments of behalf of MO, I also complete lots of mystery shopping for other companies too, based both in the UK and overseas. Any company that asks for a payment from you should be avoided as far as I'm concerned!

Mystery shopping is very ad hoc, and weeks can pass before assignments become available in your area. Nobody should pay a fee up front for potential work that cannot be guaranteed!

    HTH!
