    Hi
I was wondering if anyone knew of any running leagues that take place over the winter in Dublin.
I know that in Waterford, there is a league that is run on a handicapped system that takes place over a couple of months.
Would anyone know if there were anything similar in Dublin?

Alternatively are there any cross country races that take place for novices?

    Thanks in advance

    John

Raheny Shamrock have two sperate series. The first one is the fit4life league where we'll have details this week. Secondly is our winter league series which is 8 races between the last week of November and the first week of April.

The BHAA have a full set of X Country races. Check it out at www.bhaa.net

Also AAI are anouncing this week the 2007 Fit4Life series.

    John,

There are the BHAA races over the winter months, with cross country races as well as a couple of road races . The web site site is www.bhaa.net and the first x country race of teh year is on 20th Oct at Castleknock College over 4 miles, with the Bank of Ireland CC on 17th November over 4 miles again at the ALSAA sports grounds near the airport.

The BHAA is a competitive League but runners are graded and whilst competition is keen at the front end, the races cater for all comers, and novic es are very welcome.
Hope to see you at some races,

    Liam

Liam and Dave have kindly mentioned the BHAA races. That's the Business Houses Athletic Association. We hold about 25 races each year - cross-country, road and track, varying distances, for men and women. As competitive as you want them to be. Part of the enjoyment is trying to beat the people who were ahead of you in the last race, as well as trying to move up the leader board in the leagues.

There are team prizes at each race too - and if your company does not have any other runners, you will probably be placed in a composite team of runners from companies in a similar line of business.

Annual membership is a mere €15. Race entry is usually €8 for members and €10 for day members (who do not qualify for team prizes).
