New Years Eve - Destinations

So just over 3 months to New Years looking for some ideas of where to go preferably from people who may have been to the destination they mention at any time but in particular for New Years.

Around 12 -18 lads/few birds (aged around 24-25) looking for somewhere either abroad or in Ireland.

Was in Galway in the summer on a random weekend - everywhere was packed and in some of the pubs/clubs they wouldnt let us all in (around 10 of us).
So dont think it would be ideal for New Years

A friend was in Newcastle last year said it was packed and believe it or not full of loads of Irish lads, obviously looking for some Newcastle women (theyr apparently easy ;))

Been to Liverpool loadsa times in general but reckon loadsa Irish will already be going there so doesnt really appeal to me.

Is Edinburgh as good as they say ?

Anywhere in Ireland apart from Galway ?

Or anybody been to anywere in Europe that is generally cheap both in terms of getting there and food/drink a good party atmosphere ?

    All suggestions welcome

    Cheers

Me and a few friends spend 5 days over New Years in Barcelona. We got a beautiful 3 bed apartment near the city centre for around 100 each .... there wasn't much going on there in the way of New years celebrations but there is a great choice of bars and clubs and it's reasonably cheap to eat and drink over there. You have a choice of 2/3 airports to fly into, within an hours bus journey of the city centre .... booking this early you should get a good deal.

Edit: The weather was fab, sunny and warm!

I should be in Dubai as usual for NYE, magic, but ive been to London and Amsterdam in recent times on NYE and had a great time in both places, friends of mine also been to Barcelona and had a good one, how about somewhere different like Ibiza (supposed to be brilliant on NYE) or even Valencia, best city in Espana?
