Here are a few: Cycleways on Parnell Street, Sqaure Wheel Cycleworks in Temple Bar, Commuting Solutions in Rathmines, the bike shop/locksmith on the main street in Ranelagh, the bike shop just over Emmet Bridge in Harold's Cross.

What repairs do you need to have done?

i usually get my bike repaired in eurocycles + eurobabies of south williams st.
purely because i work around the corner, prices are reasonable, and they do their best to have the bike back to you on the same day. no phone calls or appointments required.

however only for simple fixes, as the shop seems severely understocked.

Just the front and back break cables replaced, i know i should be doing this sort of stuff myself but dont have the tools to do the job correct and the breaks are the one thing i need perfect

BTW appreciate the comments, i like the fact that Eurocycles will try have it back the same day

Just had my front dérailleur fixed at P&K Cycles on Patrick Street - cheap and well fixed - they even pumped up my tyres...

Square Wheel, Temple bar, near Curved St. by TBMC/Filmbase. Open 5 days a week. The place looks crazy downstairs but Ciaran who runs the place can puthis hand on anything withni a few minutes. Great place for finding parts for older bikes (27x1 1/4 wheels, discontinued seatpost sizes etc.....)

Cycleways Repairs on Parnell Street is a joke.

They don't fix punctures but replace the tube for 16euro  and then it takes a week

They did one for me for free there and then! (Also stuck on a new front wheel, so cost about 70 euro, but can't complain about them!)

Dropped the bike into Euro Cycles, will post how much it ended up costing.
Front breaks are ok just need tightening, Back break needs to be completely replaced as its knackered.....need new grips too.

Hi Guys, sorry to drag up an old thread but it's better than starting a new one...I think. I was searching for a repair shop in ranelagh and it was mentioned in this thread.

I bought a 2nd hand mountain bike yesterday for cheap (just to get to and from work) but it needs extensive work on the brakes, front and back but probably just rewiring as the mechanics don't seem to be damaged.

Can anybody tell me how much I would expect to pay to get the brakes fixed up and would they try shaft me by finding other faults with the bike? Also can anybody recommend any other good repair shop around rathmines/ranelagh/donnybrook, If the ranelagh one is best I'll go with that.

    Thanks.

Provided the levers and brakes themselves are ok, they'll probably change the brake cable and perhaps the brake blocks.

Around 15-20 for parts and maybe 15 for labour? It's quite straightforward to do yourself if you are that way inclined. I'm only familiar with Joe Dalys in Dundrum and cycleways in parnell st. Haven't had any problems with either and I'd recommend Joe Dalys.

Commuting Solutions in Rathmines might be handy for you:
    http://www.citikey.com/business/11078171/
(they've changed the name to something else recently).

They have a new, expanded workshop too. They're unlikely to fix anything else on the bike without checking with you first.

Thanks for the replies, I'd love to have a go at it myself but I would fear for my own sanity...and safety!

    http://www.dublin2bike.ie/

Used this fellas recently. Full service was 40 quid, which includes new breaks, blocks, mudguards fitted better, gears checked and even pumped the wheels.

Taked about bikes with the mechanics. Very pleasant to deal with.

    Same day service too.
