Sky Sports launches

    I see TV Ark have added the Sky Sports 2 launch to their collection. Haven't seen it in 13 years! T'was August 19th, 1994 at 6pm. :) I still remembered the music that begins with the countdown at 43 seconds, it was used in some promos around the time... "I think you should see this, you should see this too" being the words.

    The thing I don't remember is the ident, at least not that one. In that clip, the black box displays a stylised "too" which morphs into the number "2". But any time I saw that ident it just had the numeral from the beginning.

    And a bit of technical trivia, I believe it was the first Sky branded channel to operate on a horizontally polarised transponder (47 on Astra 1C).

    The other Sky Sports launches are there as well but I missed the Sky Sports 3 one thanks to moving to Kerry a month before. And I never would have thought about the original launch at age 6, lol. The original launch is complete with analogue sparklies, my bet is that the dish wasn't aligned properly for Astra 1B since it was only just up there a month or so when Sky Sports launched. ;)
