OE6 Links taking too long to conn to internet

Hi there, Can anyone tell me what is wrong with OE6 as its taking too long about 3-5min to connect to boards? I can refresh the page if i've got extra replies, but will this problem phase out or will it stay? As i've been meaning to change to Thunderbird, but can you change everything over without any problems? Thanks.
