Was just looking through www.carzone.ie and noticed a 1986 Opel Kadett Saloon, with 51,000 miles and one owner, for sale - €2,000.

The car also has an old-series Irish registration.
It looks to be genuinely mint. While it won't exactly 'set the Irish classic car world on fire', it would be a nice little car for a classic enthusiast to preserve.

If I had the space/spare cash I would buy it!

Nice looking car, always liked the Kadett's. The price however I think is a bit steep.

I often see an Opel Kadett estate around with 'SI' plates. It's good to see some people are not giving into the 'reg. plate snobbery' and keep driving these cars around.

Yeah that brings back memeories. My first job when I left school was PDI'ing new Kadetts at a main dealer.

Those cars were so dull ! Even the colours were just so boring, but they were solid durable cars and its nice to see one "as new" again.

Dull ain't the word for it. Always hated them.

As i said 'they wont set the classic car scene on fire' but this is a bit of a 'time warp' car and hopefully it will be bought be a classic enthusiast and kept in mint condition.

Hopefully it will be preserved. They are dull yokes, but so were the Datsun Cherrys and Laurels, and they are all gone now, and the place is the poorer for it.

Having said that I wouldn't be spending 2k on it.

I agree. Funny you should mention Datsun Cherry's ...I see there is one for sale on carzone.ie by a Dublin garage ...it's UK reg and they are asking silly money for it.

They were horrid when new and still are imo. A very depressing car to drive and be in.

I am on the lookout for a Kadett C however and if anyone knows anyone in pretty good nick let me know. The coupe is preferred of course and over 30 years old would be a a bonus.

Yes I have seen the two on carzone. The coupe is the worst colour for a car and the saloon is not in good enough condition. :)

I wonder has the suspension mod been done..............? :D

Here It looks clean enough.......but something looks weird on the N/S/F door - off colour and not aligned correctly - It'd want to be a cracker for €5k
