Will a hdmi cable improve my dvd player picture?

    A HDMI cable will improve your picture, any HDMI cable will do and the yellow,red and while cable are composite video, audio left and audio right only the scart in addition to these has RGB, s video and switching signals to control screen format and input selection among others.

    You will definetly see an improvement in picture quality using HDMI cable with your DVD and LCD. You're currently running in composite video, which is the lowest quality for your TV and DVD.
    Try using the three phono cables you are using (the yellow, red and white) and plug them between your component inputs/outputs of your TV & DVD. These are the phono connectors that are Red, Green and blue. You'll see an impovement in quality using this connection also, though you'll need another 2phono cable for sound.
    The improved quality of HDMI will be better still as your DVD player upscales with HDMI.
