    Hi all

i am new here so be easy with me anyway engine was running sweet but now it seems to me the timing needs doing. as when i drive and put me foot down it is very sluggish and loss of power its had all new plugs lead rotor arm and new etc . She is powered by the famous, ultra reliable and powerful not to mention the melodic sounding Rover 3500 V8 with a 5 speed manual box and electronic ignition (New) The fuel is pushed through a Holley 4 barrel carb and offenhauser manifold she also has tubular exhaust manifolds and a full stainless steel twin system! Cooling is done with a recent radiator and electric Kenlowe fan which is thermostatically controlled or can be set manually if desired. and she also stalls when about to stop at traffic lights etc

pls HELP how do i set the timing if it is the timing that is do i need to take it for a tune up and does anyone know where a running road tuning garage is

    Rover SDI V8 3.5

Well Rover V8's that came from the factory with electronic ignitions gave a lot of trouble. There was a circuit board in the distributor that used to fail regualrly !

You have fitted an aftermarket system and I would expect this is where the problem lies. Was there a reason for fitting it, did you won the car prior to this being fitted and how did it behave then ?

What type of system is it, who makes it. Who fitted it and why do you think the timing is out ?

Answer that lot and someone should be able to help !

I have a 3.5V8 on SUs in my 101 Land Rover. Tuning these is more of an art than science and a few quid on a professional tune up is money very well spent. My 2 ton brick goes like stink, best £100 I ever spent.

i am fine now and i will be good from now on
yeah i sold the Audi the reason i had to sell has it was just to much to road tax it and the BMW 2002 was to slow for me i have always loved stags and just can not keep away from owning one. i am temped in selling the stag as i have my mind set on a mustang who knows see what happens . i hope that i am welcomed back by all and i do apologize for my behavior long ago
PS: Do you like the video clip i know its a bit dark but it gives you an idea of the stag

    Lovely Stag.

I don't own one - I have a 1975 TR6 and am about to but another BL car (watch this space)

I would love to see the Sdi - been thinking of one of those too but it looks like I am going to get another Triumph - not a stag however. :)

yeah i have classic car insurance i had to give them a engineers report from the company who did the transplant luckily it was done professionally so had no problems at all and my insurance is only €200 a year but also needed to show them my other everyday car insurance certificate hope that helps

    Adam

PS: my triumph stag is now on ZV---- plates not UK and road tax is only €42 a year ;)
