Hi there, I am on the Satellite system {not NTL or Chorus}.......previously when I ordered Film4 {like 1 year ago when it was 7.50 a month} they just stuck that on your Sky bill, as per usual.

Now.....with Setanta, they want separate bank/credit card details. Is this correct???

What are the very in-and-outs of subscribing, and then cancelling that subscription. I understand this can be done on a monthly basis and that Setanta want a months notice. So how does that work??:confused:

Anybody who has done business with these people, your feedback is much appreciated, as will be any comments you have about Setanta in general.

    Cheers.

    TK

Setanta billing is completely seperate to Sky. This is why they ask for your details. Setanta aren't the only ones who ask for a months notice when cancelling.

In effect, if I wanted to watch Setanta in october only, I would have to tell them on the 1st of October that I wanted to cancel the damned thing on the 31st of October. Sure thats only an arse of a way to do business.

Could I put a question to you: the Sky account is in another fellas name {house share} - will that affect things or are Setanta cool??

Also: the online subscription service keeps asking for the phone number my sky is connected to. We don't have that- we have the basic non-phone line method. Can I get around this by ordering over the phone???

    Cheers..

A month's notice is hardly unusual. In fact, I think Sky themselves also ask a month's notice, as do many other services like ISP's etc.

I would expect that the person the card is named to will need to be the person ordering Setanta.

As it's not connected to the phone, just order over the phone.

    Cool. Thanks man.

PS....when you say "Card" you are referring to the viewing card, and not the credit card needed to pay??

Sorry for being such a spaz:(

    Thats odd.

Suppose I just give them the details as stated on the Sky Bill

It has the name, address and all the pertinent details.

As it happens, I have full permission etc.

Sure I'll ring up and see what happens.

    Cheers.

Does Anybody Know: Where can I find a list of the games Setanta have scheduled for broadcast??? And I don't mean some 1 week stuff: I mean the full list, so I can decide what months I do and don't want to buy. Thanks!!!

I have Film4 for free as in free to air, all you need is a dish pointing at astra 2 like a sky dish does, and some sort of a receiver.

I thought for a minute that I had helped you until I copped your smiley so I think you were takin the piddle. What I was simply saying was that you could stop planning paying 7.50 to anyone if you really wanted and have your film4 and film4+1 to boot

No.....I already dicked about with the Film4 thing, I USED to pay but when it went free it went free. I got that bit. The point I was making was that Film 4 didn't want your details like Setanta do. Film4 just stuck the bill onto your Sky Bill. I was wondering why Setanta don't do that. Thanks anyways.;)

    NOW

Does ANYONE know where I can get a list of the games Setanta have bought and intend to show us??

Mossy Monk has added a link with the games schedule so I won't repeat that.

All I'll point out here is that there's a €10 registration fee with each "new" registration (includes resuming after a previous cancellation) - which means that if you take out a subscription in October, cancel for November and re-subscribe in December, you'll pay:

    October: €18 montly fee + €10 registration fee = €28
    November: Nothing
    December: €18 montly fee + €10 registration fee = €28
January: €18 montly fee (assuming you haven't cancelled)

So if you're intending to stop your subscription on a month by month basis, bear in mind that the registration fee payable when you resume your sub means that you might only be saving €8 for the months that you don't have service, as opposed to €18.

I have sky account in my brothers name using his credit card and took out setanta in my name using my card. No issues at all.. cant see there being a problem once you supply the sky viewing card number and confirm the address.

Thanks for heads up!!! That actually makes a lot of sense. I guess the only real benefit then is that you can get out at a months notice, which is better than a kick in the ass.

Just one more question then :D - Suppose I sign up in the morning, will they charge me €18 for September and then another €18 in 6 days for October? Do they bill by Calendar month or by number of days?

    Cheers fella:cool:
