    :(
a month ago i bought a Canon 24-105mm lens from a store on Ebay Hong Kong.

I noticed the lens did not come in original Canon box just plain white one and it was also not sealed.

Anyway the lens appears to be faulty. Approx 30% of shots are not happening and i get an error message saying bad contact between lens and camera. It's not the camera as i have same problems with it on other cameras.

Has anyone any advice on what i should do or have i any comeback with Canon?

Check the serial with Canon , they'll tell you if its a fake , if it came in a plain white box , the odds are its a fake , all canons come in the same type of box , red and white , and the bar code is used for cashback if available .

Unfortunately this is very very common from hong kong .

have you taken up the issue with the seller yet? Or ebay themselves even?

Your issue is not with Canon, but with Ebay and the seller there. Get on to the seller about your problems, and failing that, contact Ebay.

Bad news indeed. Was it from a 'reputable' ebay Hong kong dealer (I know, it's almost an Oxymoron)? Or did you buy it 2nd hand? I'm not sure if there's anything you can do about it now, maybe PayPal dispute console will help you

URGalaxy are a well known firm. I'm very surprised. Contact them. Maybe them made a genuine mistake and sent you the wrong lens.

That's odd.... URGalaxy, the seller, is one of the recommended sellers here... very reputable. I'd say contact them to sort it out, I'm sure they would. I've had dealings with them before and I've always been satisfied.

Get onto UR Galaxy and explain the problem, I'm sure they will help you out.

And that speil that canon gave you about HK lenses not working on European Cameras is rubbish.

That's a good one alright. Some people will say anything to get someone off the phone.

Sometimes you have to laugh at the excuses. I have lenses bought in Ireland, US and HK. I have two camera bodies bough in US and HK. I've never had a problem.

That has to be the lamest excuse I've heard in a long time.

Sounds like a faulty lens, and I'm sure URGalaxy will sort you out, when you contact them.

Jesus, that's an odd one. URGalaxy are quite reccommended.

Is very unusual it's not even in the Canon box.

Did it come with lens hood and bag?

The tripe Canon told you isn't worth listening to anyways.

Get straight back onto URGalaxy. It's a shame you've left it this long though.

Is most likely cheaper than the lens though.

Ok, so unfortunately, you got a faulty lens. It happens all the time. The white box is nothing to do with it, as it was clearly stated on the ad.

It came with the Lens hood but don't think bad came not bothered about that anyway.

I upgraded 2 weeks ago tofrom 30D to 40D and i said i would wait and test it on that camera too as well as old 300D.

I sent message to URGalaxy and i also sent one filing a complaint via paypal so waiting to hear from UR Galaxy will keep ye posted.
