ok heres the beef...i found a betting slip which turned out to be a winner worth 200 quid..couldnt believe in so i went to my nearest paddy power(dublin) even though ticket was found in Galway...they would not cash it for me as he rang the galway branch and said it was already paid out as it was said to be a lost ticket...im adament in telling them the slip is mine and i want my cash...whats my best line of attack with this and how is it possible for someone to get paid without proof?

    Fraud is punished heavily AFAIK.

Obviously whoever originally put the bet on went back to the bookies and rewrote the docket again. Hard Luck

The bookies rules have this scenario covered. The bet slip is not legal tender. The bookie is only required to pay out the amount won on the bet once. Common sense stuff really? The original punter will have given a handwritten sample of the bet. Also, if he's an anyway regular punter, the manager of the shop the bet was made in can recognise his handwriting straight away.

clearly the guy who's ticket it actually is went back and asked the bookies in galway to dig out their receipt as proof. Which they must have done. That money has found it's rightful winner and that's the end of the transaction regardless of who holds the owners ticket now.

and if you don't think someone for PP keeps an eye on the gambling forum then you're an idiot.

What sort of a degenerate looks at used betting slips looking for a winner?
However if u genuinely lose one ths shop will ask you to rewrite it and im presuming the two match and you get your cash.

Out of curiosity, what was the selection on the slip and how much was the stake?
