well it looks like no one knew the sunnyside creche which is fair enough, but does anyone have any info on creches in that area? it's amazing that you can look on all the specialised websites which deal with childcare in this country, yet not one of them turns up anything on creches in most areas.

What is the point of these websites if they don't help people out? do they not bother looking into what's available out there? I would have thought that all creches should and would be registered with the proper authorities and therefore this info should be available , so if these websites are not putting in contact creches and parents, what is the point of them, apart from regurgitating the same advice on every single one, but no practical applications to them?

Contact your local health nurse in you local clinic, the one who does the baby check ups they have a list of all the childcare, crèche, playgroups and baby and parent groups in your area and will be able to give you a list and make a recommendation.

Contact the Pre School Inspector in your local HSE. They will give you details of all creches in your area.

    Hi there

Perhaps you've already tried www.ncna.ie, it will give you a list of all creches by area provided they are members of this organisation.

Also, www.rollercoaster.ie has dedicated sections on childcare.

    Good luck with your search,

    Julietta

thanks julietta, i'll give the ncna a try. I have tried rollercoaster and apart from the discussion boards there, i find their info on creches very poor, like most other sites.

i agree thaedydal, and i've got no problem with that. It seems that creches get found by word of mouth only, and an important thing about creches is to talk to parents who have their kids there to find out if one they are happy with the service and two, if their children are happy there. that's why we post on forums hoping to find some people with experience with certain creches. Obviously, the opinion of a stranger on a forum is not enough, but if more than one stranger have had experiences with a particular creche, then you start to get a good or bad picture. my rant was mainly that there are half a dozen websites which seem to deal exclusively with childcare, yet the list of creches on those sites is pitiful... seems like very bad research and business for those sites to be honest.
