Delighted that Katherine Heigl got the drama award ahead of Ellen Pompeo who plays that whiny bint Meredith so whinily. I was sure that Dixie Carter or Laurie Metcalfe would get the best female guest gong for their respective roles as Gloria Hodge and Caroline Bigsby in Desp Housewives.

Elizabeth Perkins was robbed!;) Seriously, she stole season 2 of Weeds for me.

Agreed. Why was Jamie Pressley up for supporting actress anyway? She is the lead actress in that show isn't she? And who the f*ck is James Spader? :) There is only one James who should have won that award!

I am really pleased for America Ferrera from Ugly Betty, loved her last season.

As for the Emmy awards themselves did anyone actually watch? I usually dip in and out every year but this year i stayed away, mainly because i can't stand Ryan Seacrest.

It would seem not many in the US would disagree with me as it was one of the lowest ratings for an Emmy ceremony ever.

James Spader is a really good actor, been around since a few teen movies in the eighties (Pretty in Pink) but I've never seen Boston Legal and I heard his character is really good in it - has anyone else seen it? Is it any good?

Pretty boring set of awards this year - did anyone not see "The Sopranos" winning? Even Ferrerra winning, nice as it was, only reflects earlier wins at the Globes and other award shows.
Heigl winning for "Grey's Anatomy" is a poor win (especially when there's the much more talented Cho).
Did like seeing "30 Rock" win though.

I watch it and he is very good in it. The show is typical Kelly - every character has huge odd quirks but they deal often with serious issues. Spader's character, Alan Shore, is a bit of an a-hole in many ways but Spader manages to make him imminently likeable, especially when we see glimpses of his softer caring side. He's got great on screen chemistry with Danny "Captain Kirk" Crane too.
