    Hi all

Another newbie here to plague you all for advice, tips n tricks. I'm hoping to get into the dSLR side of photograpy when i have a bit more spare cash but for the moment i have a nikon coolpix 8800. I thought it'd be up there for giving me control over the functions and help me learn slowly.

I have just been reading some of the posts on constructive criticism of others photos and i found them very informative, a great help in fact. I'l post some links to a few of my fav pics soon.

I'm from waterford city. Great to have an Irish site dedicated to photography.

Btw..some of you guys shots are fabulous !

welcome and well done typhoon. some nice takes here. you have obviously an eye for pleasant composition. At the rate you are going and if you keep taking shots like the ones above, you will probably find that you'll outgrow the coolpix hardware pretty quickly. slaughter the piggy bank! entry dSLR's, rather surprisingly, are not overly expensive and usually the difference between it and a good point/shoot is a couple of weeks of fattening the pig! Cheers.

nice shots.. love the butterfly one but i think 4 is a tad over exposed..

also stick em on pix.ie or flicr or something to get comments / abuse / critique / tips aswell !

Oooh it'll be a dslr in no time. You've got a really good sense of composition as a few people have said already :) Lovely clarity in the butterfly shot and I really like the lines in the one below it.

Welcome to our little corner of boards :D

Welcome to our community ... I hope you can make one of the group meets to get properly acquainted ... Fajitas! has a Waterford meet coming up in October ...

You have a good eye for composition there ... I like some of your images ... I do agree that your watermark does not work ... I'd consider a different approach.

get yourself a flickr account or pix.ie ... our little community extends into these places ;)
