Irregular Periods

    Hi,
Although i have been having periods for a few years now they have never settled into a pattern and i never know when to expect them. This can often be annoying and has started to interfere with the way i live my life as i have to be prepared and worry about my period arriving unexpectedly while at a party, away with my boyfriend for the weekend, on holidays or while i college etc
I have considered going to the doctor but i am really embarrassed and worried about what this might entail.
Does anybody know what Doctors suggest for this problem? Would going on the Pill help or will i be subjected to blood tests, internal exams and ultrasounds?
Im so worried about seeing the doctor at this stage that the stress is probably affecting my periods.
Any info or advice is welcome
    Thanks

Go to you dr irregular periods could be normal for you or else it could be part of a range of differing conditions there is no way to know with out seeing your dr.

If there is something awry the sooner you know the better and for some of the more serious conditions the sooner the better.
