I recently got my Tax renewal form with my PIN but it's gone missing. Is it possible to get a replacement form sent out or would the tax office give me the PIN over the phone. I've been trying to ring the tax office but no reply. Thanks!

The PIN expires one month after the letter is sent.
After that you have to do it the long way by post.

They won't give you your pin over the phone and I doubt they will resend it but that part I don't know for certain.

Manually fill in one of these and go speak to those lovely people down the tax office.

I'm gonna rip the house apart looking for that goddamn form tonight. Then I can just sit at my computer and renew. As opposed to hunting down my NCT Cert, Insurance Cert & Reg Cert, taking time off work, driving to the tax office, Queing for god knows how long and then driving to work and working late to make up the time. All for the sake if a missing PIN number :(

Thanks for the form by the way in case I do need it!!

AFAIK the pin is the last couple of digits of your VIN number.

Thinks that's only for 1st taxing - it's the last 6 digits then.

that's only for newly imported and VRT'd cars. Otherwise it's a randomly generated PIN each time your renewal is up.

Yep it's a random pin, I recently lost mine and while searching found the previous one, PIN didn't work. Luckily I found the proper one, and even luckier the PIN hadn't expired (after about two months) and the website automatically charged back-tax :)

I got my PIN over the phone once. The other time, the PIN was the last 4 digits of the chassis number.
