Fair play to her. Does she get bracelets on the same level as those in Vegas? If so, I doubt we will see a younger winner for many years. Since it didn''t happen in the US though it probably doesn't count, like most things that happen outside there tbh.

seemingly she called the clock on the Kay guy in a hand she wasn't involved and the TD said over the mike " if she called the clock on me I'd call the hairdresser on her"

    Lovely, very professional.
    What a dickhead.

Was it the TD or could it of being this guy?

According to pokerwire, he was calling the play for a while today and having 'great fun'. Good for him.

I think it would irritating to be playing and focusing on the most important final table of your life, and have someone who isn't involved clowning around.

What an astonishingly talented young lady. Much respect.

I mean this in the nicest possible way but if she was really hot/good looking i would def imagine her being the female Phil Ivey or an overnight global superstar. Just in terms of marketing. For some time now she's been the best LAG tourny regular on the scene, for a while all the hype was BeLoWAbOve but she's clearly the best. While on the subject of online superstar tourny donks, zangbezan24 (seen on our shores recently FT'ing the irish open - Sorel Mizzi) is IMO by far the best tourny player online.

    1. Is she LAG? She has gears, but I wouldn't think she is LAG.

    2. Do you find Phil Ivey attractive?

Well how annoying would that be. :p
I'd rather see her get by on her talent, there are enough Anna Kournikova wannabes of poker.

    Sure you didn't mean TAG

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,538 ✭✭✭Requiem4adream

I dont really track these things but off the top of my head i must have played at least thousand (maybe plural) hands with her online, she's most def LAG, didnt watch her live performance.....

As for looks, of course it helps. It's the society we live in. Phil Ivey has a more marketable image than Annette. Ian Thorpe more marketable than Grant Hackett (2 swimmers similar ability). David Beckham is more marketable than Ronaldinho.

Rating somebodys ability in any discipline is a subjective thing....whatever you might think of her ability relative to Phil Iveys, i just think if she had the looks to go with her game, she'd reach the global superstar bracket instantly and stay there for many years.

no, you are wrong she is TAG. She steals blinds later on in tourneys, but her game is most definitely Tight aggressive,

19.2% on a full tourney tables is definitely not TAG.

Im not wrong but ok.....how many hands have you played with her? google annette_15 and im sure a lot of results will mention LAG!!! she's renowned online for being one of the best LAG's out there.....got that rep for a reason.

    What would you consider TAG?

I normally play about 13-15% of hands in tournaments and I would probably be an average tag.

FWIW just asked an american friend who knows her very well how to describe her game : "LAG but changes gears really well and has an excellent TAG game". seems like nobody's wrong, happy days!!!

You seem to have a real thing for Phil Ivey, I didn't realise he was considered so attractive? Or maybe moreso by you?

ah now, they are pretencious and annoying.

I don't care to watch some tart with a low cut top trying to get on camera as much as possible. (the first element is fine, combined with the 2nd its just annoying)

When I objectify wimmin, it's far more graphic and honest. :p

well someone had to win it, so what is the news? Only that she is young and female. So I agree it would be better for everyone if she was hot.

fair play to her, naturally the American based players won't regard this as a proper braclet cause of the small numbers that were playing, I think this is to do with the buy in being nearly double the Vegas buy in and other 1 site giving sats to it.

I watched a bit of the tourney on Saturday, was it just me or did it not seem as "professional" as the vegas final tables? Looked like it was just in a corner of a bar.

this could be either great or terrible, if the media grab onto the fact that she's been gambling underage then it will be bad, but if they grab onto the fact that men and women can play on a level playing field and a woman won 1 of the big tournaments then it could be great

I definitely agree with that. Look at darts a sport.... I am not a big fan nor do even play much really but look at Andy Fordham and Phil Taylor. You could not get 2 less marketable oafs IMO but the game still remains popular but nowhere near other sports with more aesthetically pleasing competitors. I am sure much like beach volleyball (Ladies at that) a few scantily clad temptresses with beautifully manicured talons throwing mini javelins with tails at a decently competitive level would do wonders for the game. The overwhelming majority of all internet users/abusers/contributors, sports fans/voyeurs(in a lot of cases) and sports bettors are you guessed it...... male. For this reason, everyone knows that to make something more marketable just throw in your Shana Hiatt's, Joanna Krupa's, Shannon Elizabeth's, etc. It fits the target demographic audience perfectly.

She is a fantastically talented poker player (and not too bad looking IMO), lets appreciate her for her undoubted talent. I'm pretty sure it's not a one-off win. It's safe to say she'll have made as much and probably more money than Jame Gold by the time she is his age.

And, disregarding her looks, this could be bad for poker in general. If the media get the wind of the fact that a girl has been gambling professionally / semi - professionally online since she was 15 - and puts up £10k to gamble some more at the tender age of 18 I think you could see how they might spin this.

She started playing online poker at the young age of 15 and claims never to have deposited any money into her account.

It is a shame she isn't hot. The Anna Kournikova thing really gets me though. I don't think anyone who has never played or watched tennis should be able to use that analogy. I've said this before, Kournikova was actually a really talented player. She was the youngest player ever to win the Fed Cup with Russia and was ranked number 8 in the world in singles at one point. She also won 2 grand slam titles in doubles with Hingis and was ranked number 1 in the doubles rankings too.
    meh rant over

It's not that Anna Kournikova wasn't one of the best tennis players in the world, it's that she seemed to lose interest and cared more about modelling jobs and sponsors, and not the game she was a talented in.

You're right, one day poker will boom and it will no longer be the underground barely known hobby of the few that it is today. :p:D

It's a trade off, personally I could do without reading/viewing the whores who take it in the a$$ from Slansky and others for buy-ins.

This type of sh1te is why the NBC Heads-up tournament has a number of 'celeb' players and many top poker players can't make
    the 64 player short list.

We're sorry Men Nguyen, David Pham, Dan Harrington, Juan Carlos Mortensen, Marcel Luske, Freddy Deeb and John Phan, etc

but Don Cheadle, Celine Dion's rich husband and co. are ahead of you in the pecking order.
