What you guys think of this film, i'm kinda half and half on this. And seeing as this was made before owens suicide attempt, i don't think that's relavent.

    Then why bring it up?

As for the film, I know there are some people here that really didn't like it, but personally I absolutely love it, and the cast is fantastic. The Darjeeling Limited should be out later this year (Wes Anderson's new movie).

Just after watching Wedding Crashers and there is also a scene with Owen reading a 'Don't Jump' book. Found it uncomfortable to watch.

Back on topic, Tenenbaums is great!

Like all of Anderson's films (except the slightly underwhelming Bottle Rocket) I think it is superb. While I don't think it is as good as Rushmore, it is still a wonderful display of Anderson's unique style, humour and heart. The whole Owen Wilson suicide connection is pretty irrelevant since it was written so much earlier than said incident. It is a bit weird to think about that scene today though.

But still, a truly excellent film.

    Added spoilers just in case:

It's a while since I've seen the film, but
was it not Luke Wilson's character that attempted suicide?

Yeah... but Owen was one of the writers... still all a bit tenuous though.

I remember being disappointed when this first came out, as I was expecting a lot from it and absolutely loved Rushmore. But it is a very good film and Gene Hackman is wonderful in it.

Not sure - I'm partial to this kind of film but felt it was a bit too thin in terms of sharp observational humour regarding the human condition. A great cast helps but there has to be more.

I love this movie some very funny and very touching moments also. No one has mentioned the Soundtrack yet which is out of this world. When I saw this in the cinema I had a similar experience to a previous poster were people were leaving left, right and centre but me and my mate wet ourselves laughing the whole way through. People went into it thinking they were about to see Zoolander 2 because of Wilson and Stiller (I think this was out only a few months later).

Im gonna get hung for this but the only movie Wes has made that I didnt like was the Life Aquatic (runs for door).

Interesting fact: Wilson was meant to write The Life Aquatic with Anderson but couldn't due to prior engagements. I think it could have been a far better film, not that I didn't like it! Amen to the soundtrack. You have to love that rendition of Hey Jude!
