Okay the house is starting to freak me out.

I get weird noises around the house, some of which are like a stone being dropped on my sitting room floor, it will happen a few times in a row and nothing will be on the floor and I can only pin point that the noise is coming from behind me in the room.
Also there does be loud bangs around the house as if someone is walking around or after knocking something over when no1 is in that room at all and nothign has fallen or anything of the sort. Its not wind because it has happened when there is no wind out and there was no draft in that room.
Today was the weirdest, my gf was after coming upstairs to where I was and when she went back down stairs the extractor fan was on in the kitchen, she got freaked out and came upstairs again.

I do think there is something up with the house, wether it be paranormal or not I don't know but what do you think??

Could it possibly be your floor boards? I know my stairs creak when you walk on them and even when every one is in bed it creaks due the wood setting back if you know what I mean...

I was thinking that but no, its too loud of a BANG to be the floor boards. The other thing is the extractor fan above the oven turning on when no1 else was even near the room!!

Sounds like someone is trying to attract your attention.

Has anyone you liked or who liked you passed over within the last year or so?

    There is nothing to fear.

Nobody close to me has died in a few years which is odd.

No one has to have died for "paranormal" stuff like this to happen ... infact it doesnt even have to be a spirit as such.

Any changes in you life in the last few months? A change in your living situation, family etc?

Drop me a pm if there's something you dont want to ask or answer publically.

Well I only moved down the sticks and into this house 4 months ago. Its freaking me out because as I was trying to sleep last night I could have sworn I heard a really high pitched scream in the house, but when I said it to my other half this morning she didn't hear a thing.

I'll drop you a PM in a bit for some advice 6th.

What did you think of the house when you first moved in? Kinda eery?

Have you heard any stories about the area, about paranormal activity?

Is it isolated or in a residential estate?

When I moved in it was fine, no eerie feeling to the house at all.

No paranormal activity reported around the area, my other half lived down here all her life.

Its in a residential estate, it used to be fields but its got about 200 houses in it now.

Is it a new house as I noticed when I moved in here to my new house i got extermely loud bangs and it turned out to be nails in the skirting boards exploding so to speak also the pressure in the tank in the attic would release at night giving a very loud sound but it would sound as if the noise was directly beside you. With the extractor fan possibly a faulty wire or the swithch was not slide across fully and a door banging and the vibration of this could have knocked it back to the on position.

All that said, it also could be the pressure of moving that has placed you or your gf energy of of sink and energy can do wierd and wonderful things also. try and keep a clear and positive approch to all that is happening and I am very sure that 6th will put you on the right track.

Cheers hiorta, I've been out to a few homes now and even though personally I'd rather it were spirits, alot of the time its good old stress causing the problems.

jonny, I dropped you back a pm but for the sake of the thread and anyone else who might be experiencing the same I'll post a bit here too.

Ok first off I'd pretty much stake my reputation on your house not being "haunted". By that I mean its not a ghost. I've been out to about a dozen homes at this stage and in about half of those they have been situations where there is no spooky house, no dark history.

Thats not to say that what is happening isnt "real". I've found what causes activity like this is the people living in the home. Stress or change are usually the factor and once this settles done so does the knocking etc. If you look at the likes of poltergeist activity (settle down people, lets not get all Hollywood :D) its usually unintentionally caused by someone/s living in the house.

Of course how do you de-stress when you are living in a haunted house? It can really snowball! Well first off you need to know that its not a ghost. Then you need to do thinks to relax. Air the house out and burn sage incense or sage smudge sticks - these create a relax atmosphere and get rid of negative vibes. Shops like Natures Way do drops called "Rescue Remedy" a few drops of this in a glass of water before bed and in the morning works wonders. If you can find a shop that does these then get "White Chestnut" - its for unwanted thoughts. Work on the people who are experiencing the activity and sort out the root of it.

Of course I could be wrong, it could be dodgy wiring and creeky floors, or it could be spirits .... I'm just giving my opinion based on my experiences and what I know.

Well the extractor fan can have no inbetween, its either on or off. We had cleaned the kitchen at about 2pm yesterday and the fan was 100% slid all the way over to the off position. All the doors are open in the house during the day so they don't bang. When she went down and heard the fan she said it was definately on "1" so I was playing around with the switch to see if it was faulty wiring or anything like that.
There wasn't any pressure with our moving, she was living down here all her life, moved to Dublin to me for a year and we decided to move down here. We were a bit rundown in the first week or two after the move but we settled in long ago and are never really stressed. Both of us are really laid back and I even joke about "ghosts" saying that I will only worry about them when they try to feel me up. Stuff like this wouldn't bother us until the fan. It didn't so much as freak us out as really we thought it was bizzare.

We relax quiet alot and our jobs don't stress us out so thats why I posted in here as I know in that respect we are sound.

Just to be clear, I don't think that 6th is saying that you are imagining these things due to stress. He is saying that stress in either yourself or your gf or both (or possibly even neighbours ?) can cause a build up of energy which can cause these things to happen.

Other signs might be things like light bulbs blowing more regularly than you'd expect or funny problems with electrical equiptment, tv changing channels or bringing up menus at random and so on.

Well I don't really know the neighbours so I can't comment on that one. No real other problems with electrical equipment so I don't know.

denying you know me already eh danny .....

I think one of the first things to do is starting making a written record of things you are hearing and if possible try to record them. Its usually a good idea to do this as it helps you work out if these things are happening a lot, a little or at certain times of the day. going from that you can then logically start to work out if it *could* be creaking boards etc or if it may be something else.

See if you can capture the stone dropping noise and keep a recorder near the extractor fan for a few hours. Wont explain whats going on but if you can capture these things in action it might make it easier to work out whats causing them.

when my housemate passed away, he deffo came back for a while- dropping things in his old room, moving stuff round etc. I don't think he knew he was really gone...but soon after we all started getting dream visits, and I love them

My house is new and we've got that creaking and banging thing going on all the time. Somtimes it's a loud bang and sometimes it sounds like someone walking around upstairs. Even last night I had to go up to check if one of the kids had gone walkabout :D . It spooked me for a long time, but I've just got used to it and presume it's just floorboards expanding and contracting.
The fan thing is another issue however which would definitely freak me out
