Maybe i have given a confusing title for this post. But basically im 20 years of age and have always enjoyed boxing with friends at the weekend in each others houses and that after a few points.nothing serious but i really enjoy it and im interested in joining boxing.i was just wondering if the day came that i felt experianced enough are their any competitions that i could enter or would somebody from a club or boxing background decide whether or not i can participate?so if i was talented would i have any chance of making somewhat of a career of boxing or because of my age would i not have a chance?

If you wanted to go pro you would need to be a succesful amateur boxer 1st-this is extremely hard as the standard of amateur boxing is huge-also if you knew a promoter they might let you but you would only be used as a punch bag by up and coming prospects-and paid very little! why dont you join a club and fight a couple of novice fights and if your unbelievably talented fight in the normal amateur tournaments and see how you get on-its good that you have an interest but the standards are so high as most these people will be boxing 10-20 years before you even started, chances of doing well are almost 0. fight novice and learn and improve-it will teach you boxing and be good for fitness and fun too.

Im fairly certain you have to be representing a club i.e. You cant just show up at the national stadium with your dukes up!An experienced trainer has to give the go ahead and say you re ready to represent his club. have your medical check etc.
