Paintballing (for poker players) interest list

If you are seriously interested in going paintballing please post here. I think a Saturday is probably best, as it suits people with jobs, and isn't on a Sunday where most Irish people are throwing up or in church. Id like to do it as soon as possible, before the winter sets in, so I think either the 29th (sept) or the 4th (oct). Is there any reason these dates dont fit?

Ive never organised Paintball before, so if someone who has could point me to the best place id appreciate it.

kilternan in wicklow (i think) just past south dublin. very good craic, and reasonably cheap (depending on how many refills you use)
40 p/p i think, and a bus could be arranged to +from city centre for extra 10 or so p/p (presuming we have 2 teams of 20)

id love to go - but am not a def as it would be very dependant on football commitments etc.

    fair play hj

i'll play if i can bring my own gun

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,277 ✭✭✭✭Rb

I'd definately be up for it bar the fact I know very few from the forum offline and also don't know what some peoples opinions of me are after a few "bad taste jokes" and a dumb stunt in the not so distant past.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,993 ✭✭✭Trippie

Id be up for it aswell although the 6th of october is the weekend ste's IPO kicks off and that may reduce numbers as some people may be playing this

ye that would be fine with me, although if it gets going i doubt 100 would cover the bar costs

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 290 ✭✭mickste

This is a great idea Hj.I'd be up for this. Once you get numbers we can choose a full day or half day. So many Nam memoreis rushing back..

    Ah thanks Bops :)

On the presumption that the majority would be on pints (again, a presumption), €100 from each loser providing the teams consist of an equal amount of players, would get everyone roughly 10 pints each.
It'd be a good start at least!

true trippie, but it will certainly get the craic flowing. (no casino visits allowed until the first one of us is kicked out of a bar/nightclub)

ye wes its some laugh. start just after 12 or so, and be finished by 4 at latest, that includes baked potato, and hamburger. refills of the paint gun are the killer - at 10yoyo each. people average 4/5, i had 12 . . . ;(

dont worry about that at all, first of I thought it was quite funny and turned it into a picture joke, and second this is the perfect place for people who hold grudges!

Obviously count me in! Never gone but would love to find out how much I suck at this

    Very good point!

    Count me in so.

I also have a small punto, so I can do lifts if required.

Ok I want to play that IPO thing as well, so we will go with Sat 29th Sep. Crossfire look good, (http://www.crossfire.ie/programmes.html) and its not that far away so we'll do it there.

I'd say half a day will be fine; and the afternoon is probably more realistic. Anyone disagree?

How many people do you think we will get? Should I organise a bus from town, or will we make our own way?

There is three spots in my car for whoever needs a lift, we can arrange a pick up point nearer the time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,881 ✭✭✭JP Poker

I'd be up for this aswell

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,646 ✭✭✭cooker3

I'll probably still be jetlagged but I will happily do it anyway.
I have been twice in past jobs and they were really a good laugh. Btw if it's raining, it's even better in a way as it makes it feel more real. Nothing like running around a muddy forest in combats chasing after someone with a gun, ah good times.

rb- Can I bags a lift if you allow a northside scumbag in your car?

I'd defo play as long as Felipe Contepomi plays, I mean at the end of the day I'm Leinster till I die. Roysh?

small tip; bring a decent tank with you as these guys really make their money on charging you for reloads (like €10 for an extra 100 pellets which you then can blast off in about 60 seconds flat if you're in Mickste's Apocalypse Now/Platoon/Hamburger Hill 'Nam fantasy universe ;) ). I blew 200 on reloads the time I went, luckily it was a corporate gig, lol

can't make it myself but enjoy...

    €20 bounty on BCB's head!
the bruises shoudl show up well on that dome!!

1 might bring a car load from kk..

Any chance of having one section of this a freezout:rolleyes: i hate multi rebuy bingo!!!!:D i.e. capture the flag all start with the same amount of bullets and no rebuy, this would be better for stratagic play, and wont be "all in" and rebuy again and again.....

    anyway 4 from kk..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 290 ✭✭mickste

Too true el s. Last time i played this i was still in my sniper position half an hour after the game had ended, just waiting for that one clear shot..

    i have a better idea
why not use real guns(i will organise)
    that way it might be a little easier for me to pick up some cash in the se tournies;

p.s water pistols for flushdraw and bottomfeeder.
    need some dead money aswell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,049 ✭✭✭The_Chopper

    Count me in...

I can bring 3 or 4 more with me

I suggest whoever is offering and excepting lifts to meet on Merrion Sq regardless

There is a paintball forum on Boards too btw, you might want to drop in there and ask around, never know what they might do for fellow boardsters.

damn wedding and honeymoon getting in the way of paintball :(

I'm up for it the next time though, it's brilliant fun.

Remember going with work one time and my mate knocked his gf out with the first shot of the first game. He had to go off to the hospital with her for the day :)
