    Hi all,
I posted here over a month ago looking for advice with regard to drinking and depression. Just posting to say that having taken some advice from here ( and from other places ) on board i finally decided to attend an aa meeting.

Today is my 28th day sober. 27 more than i had ever managed before in my adult life! i still have a hell lof alot of things to sort out, both in my life and in my emotions but with a clear head it seems a bit more manageable.

I guess the reason that im posting this is that when last i posted here i was so full of despair i really didnt know how to go on. While im not saying that aa is a miracle cure or that it hasnt been really tough, life has gotten more manageable over the last 4 weeks. i thought sharing it might inpsire someone else on here if they are thinking of trying to stop drinking.

Thanks for coming back to us OP, it gives hope to see people biting the bullet and doing the hard stuff we can all recommend but do we have the guts to apply to our own lives??

Best of luck mate! It's hardest in the beginning before you get used to your new lifestyle. Just hang in there.

    Hey OP,
Thanks for coming back to share the next chapter of your story, we all have our struggles in life and it's nice to see others working their way through theirs, it inspires you to carry on with your own.

Another quick update. Im now 56 days sober, a day at a time!!!!

Attending AA meeting daily, which are helping alot. Im suffering from alot of guilt at the moment when i think of the worry i put my family through but im trying to keep positive and i have to say that my family have been wonderfully supportive so far.

I dont want this post to sound like bragging or anything, like my last post, this is just that it might encourage someone reading who is sufferig like i was.

One thing i will say is that nothing i have had to face since getting sober has been as miserable as my last days drinking...

Well done. You're doing great, keep up the good work and if you feel guilt towards people, apologise, they will totally appreciate it.

I'll go along with all the rest. Well done and an inspiring story for other who may be struggling with any addiction. Kudos.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Delighted for you, the fact that you are 56 days sober and getting stronger every day I'm sure is a great apology for the people you've put through hurt, keep it up!

Very true, the very fact the OP has had the guts to make this change and stick with it for 2 months is in itself an apology of sorts and I'm sure those close to the OP are well aware of it. I wouldn't beat myself up with the guilt OP, you've already done the most important bit - recognising you needed to change and then doing it.

Well done. Go treat yourself to some new clothes or that gadget you've had yer eye on or a good meal...
