Does anybody here have a Sega saturn Action Replay Auto Plus Cartridge?

I have recently aquired one for my Saturn, unfortunatley it came with no instructions. I assumed that after inserting the Cart I should see a menu with options but I see nothing!

I know it's working because I can load games for different regions I just cant accesss the menu?

    Any ideas?

Are you sure it isn't just the version that allows you to play imports only?

I've a 4M or 4 in 1 which plays imports, has cheats, acts as a 4M cart and has flash backup for saves.

With my version you just plug it in and after the saturn bio boot up the action replay menu appears, you don't have to do anything special at all.

It would be a pain if you didn't have the cheats. You can't play panzer dragoon saga without an action replay code.

    Hi Retrogamer,

    I have this one...
    http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-k8-49-en-70-1b2.html

Which I think is the same as yours?

It seems to be working in terms of playing games from different Regions but I also want to use the backup memory on it.

I just wasnt sure if i needed to be holding any key down on the gamepad while booting in order to access the menu? It sounds like it should just go straight into the menu though...
I have a PAL copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga that runs fine without the Action replay codes.

Thats the same one I have. The action replay menu should appear at start up as long as it's plugged in, no need to hold buttons. Strange that you aren't getting any menu.

The saturns cartridge slot is notorious for getting worn out due to it not being gold plated. Maybe you could give the connectors a clean and see if that helps.

I have an old 4M that doesn't work with Capcom 4Mb games unless you mod it. You might have a newer version that does work but I doubt it would make any difference to how it worked. It should start automatically.

The problem with PDS is if you have an import game. It won't work if you have anything in the cartridge slot so you get any error message when using an action replay unless you use a code.

    Thanks Retrogamer,

I'll do as you suggest and see if that fixes it...

Ok I took the Cart out, cleaned the contacts adn hey presto! It works!
I also tried loading Panzer Dragoon Saga, and your right it dosn't load with the cart installed.
I just searched for the Cheat coded needed to get it running, I really dont want to be pulling the cart in and out all the time...

    Thanks for the help Retrogamer...

    No problem.

Panzer Dragoon Saga is the only game with that copy protection but as long as you have the code (which can be saved to the cart ,nice!) then there is no need to remove the cartridge. I'd recommend not removing it because those cartidge contacts in the saturn can wear out pretty fast.

Hope you enjoy the japanese games, there's no point having a saturn if you can't play the jap games since almost all the good stuff never made it to the west.
