Facial/head protection

What do people like to use?

I tried Airsoft for the first time at the weekend and I was using a full face protector and just wearing a baseball cap.

I found the full face protector to be a nuisance as it was preventing me from getting down on the sights properly. At times I was having to fire and a watch the direction of fire and adjust accordingly to hit my target.

I wear glasses which are going to be a nuisance when it comes to choosing something.

Ideally I think I'd prefer to use goggles and a neoprene mask for the rest of my face.

    Thoughts?

    Killian

could you not wear the glasses with your goggles?

I've a pair on the way from Eirsoft and I hope i can use my specs with em...

I did try a pair of Bolle gogles in ProTec (The Curragh Camp) and they felt great - remind me of oakleys from my Motocross days or was it daze...
Eitherway, I felt the goggles were really great - and I was wearing my specs underneath. They came with 3 diff lenses and were olive green.
    I think they were about 28 E.

I was considering full face masks but am more inclined towards a "fleece" one-hole balaclavagh, and these goggles - or better still - the low profile ones I ordered/waiting on from Shiva (may be too tight for my specs tho) :(

Regarding neoprene facemasks - fantastic in a wetsuit but errrrggghhhh, wouldnt like to have to wear one (on my face) for a day here (unless there's loads of snow or -30 windchills...
    just my 2c

this has been covered in a previous post ,you should read the past threads, but i agree the masks hamper you big time, i ended firing from the hip

aye, this has come up several times before, i wear a full paintball mask/goggles, the goggles give great visibility and dont obscure your peripheral vision the way the mesh masks in hrta do, but like any facemask, they will prevent you from using the iron sights properly, i dont have too much trouble using an open reflex red-dot sight though

i've been meaning to try some type of glasses for outdoor, but when it comes to indoor ill definitely be using full face protection

Search has been more or less disabled on boards.ie due to the extra load it requires. :(

Hopefully it'll come back at some point soon.

A good alternative is just to use google. Type in boards.ie and whatever it is you're looking for. Works for me a lot of the time :)

I thought I heard of someone getting a chipped tooth?? Fullface protection works for me, thats for sure, I'm ugly enough without losing any pearly whites!!!

Yep, it happened the first day at HRTA to Whupass. However it was a one in a thousand shot and its unlikely to happen unless you are grinning point blank into the barrel.

A sheemagh or, for the more cowardly, a neoprene face mask should provide all the protection you need for CQB - I honestly dont feel the need in woodland or field games due to the distances involved.
