Death to smoochy

I was once warned by an xtravision employee when going to rent this (purely a random choice at the time) that this was a bit 'weird' and not really recommended.
Well I was almost put off, but turns out that it is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen. Definately Robin williams funniest ever performance in my opinion. I reckon not too many people have seen it, so the question is, are there anymore smoochy fans out there?

If you haven't seen it, here is a little bit to whet your appetite

Yep, saw it on release. Great film!

But c'mon, "Robin Williams funniest ever performance"? Is there that many to compare?

With Danny DeVito, Catherine Keener and Ed Norton in a black comedy, how could I not be a fan? By having the worst screenplay ever, some clumsy direction, and not a single half decent moment in the film, thats how.

I've never been more disappointed in a film in my life. Scandalously bad given the talent involved

Not seen it myself, but it is good when you pick up a film you're not too familiar with (As in, not seen any trailers, or no hype) and it ends up suprising you. It is definetly a film I was interested in seeing, as it came into Robin Williams' period where he was doing much darker films, such as One Hour Photo and Insomnia.

Watched this back at release (two / three years ago?) and was unimpressed. It had been recommended to me by a couple of friends and I was really disapointed. I haven't watched it in long enough to actually critique it, but I remember aside from one or two nicely dark and twisted moments, it emerged as a really unlikable film deserving of the DTV status it eventually recieved.

This was half way between Robin Williams comedy stuff and serious stuff (I loved Insomnia) and I thought it was awful. He can do one or the other but not both at the same time.

I love this movie. I haven't seen it in a few years but it was completely like Karl said, found it out of nowhere, was very surprised. I guess I like it more because very few other people had seen it and that gives me a sense of ownership. I know it's not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I think it's a very funny film.
What are you, blind? It's a cock! It's not a rocket, you sick ****! It's a cock! Look. It's a cock and balls! A dick! Chorizo and the huevos! It's a big stiffy! It's a penis! Penis maximus! A willie! A weenie! Mr. Jiggle Daddy! The one-eyed wonder weasel! Don't you see that? It's Jimmy and the twins. Rumple Foreskin. He made this. It's made from dil-dough.

    :D

I enjoyed it a lot too.

I loved the "My Stepdad's Not Mean, He's Just Adjusting" song.

I loved this movie, laughed A LOT when I saw it first. It is a bit out there and people seem to either love it or hate it. I loved the scene where
Robin Williams is outside of court and gets an egg thrown at him. "I've been shot! That's salmonella! Someone touched my ass" :D

I was introduced to it by a friend a few years ago and thought it was great. A bit dark but very well done. 'I'm suing your Riverdance ass!' :D

Judging by the thread, it's definitely a love-it-or-hate-it type of film!

"Oh we will get you off the crack oh yes we will"
The songs are great all tongue in cheek.

One of my favourite comedies ever. Robin Williams is fantastic.

Me and my mates just spent two hours laughing our heads off when we saw it, I see a lot of people are like me but some just hate it. I guesss it just depends on your sense of humour and probably your mood at the time of watching it. But I for one go for great one liners over camera work an direction on films like this.
[Reporter: 'What about the rumours that you are mentally imbalanced?'
Rainbow Randolph: ' Who the fcuk said that?' (he throws him over the bonnet of a car)

Lol, funniest thing i ever saw
