    I'm off to Vegas soon, and wanted to do the helicopter trip over th Grand Canyon.

    Has anyone had any expereince of this? There seems to be a lot of operators - just wondering if anyone can recommend one.

    Thanks,

    cant remember the exact company we used but they are all more or less the same. dont go for the cheaper option, its not near as good...i have experienced both. go for the option when u actually land in th GC and u have breakfast or lunch, its a much better option. u can also haggle most of them, they have 'shops' along the strip, u can defo get a bit off the price they tell u it will be, there is so much competition. Im so jealous, i looooovvve Vegas, been a few times now.

    hey, we used papillion on our visit to LV and the grand canyon and couldn't recommend them highly enough (they even have an Irish 1800 number you can book on!)

    I would recommend it to anyone and everyone! I blew me away so much I proposed to my then girlfriend and now wife :D

    see attached pic for example of the views - this one is with L. Mead in the background

    and ignore the photo name, I know it wasn't Oregon ;)

    i was in vegas about a month ago and used sundance helicopters;
    .excellent operation,cost was $320 pp,they picked us up in a limo from our hotel,brought us to their base which was right beside mc carran airport and we were airborne in 20 minutes. the tour we done took 45 mins to get to the grand canyon passing over lake mead and hoover dam on the way. we landed half way down the canyon and had 30 minutes there. they gave us a small picnic basket each and a bottle of champagne between the 5 that were on our helicopter. another 45 mins and we were back in vegas flying in over the strip on the way back. amazing experience,highly recommended,we just booked it with one of the many tour companies located along the strip.

    Not sure if I am too late to reply Donal....

    I got back from Vegas yesterday, was there for 2 weeks and drove out to the GC for a day trip (never again, long boring drive). After walking around for a couple of hours taking photo's we stopped at the small airport just outside the GC reservation park grounds.

    They wanted 145 dollars per person for 25min flight, I was gonna go for it (once in a lifetime blah...blah) but there were 4 coaches of people in the waiting area plus a full car park of other Joe Soaps and I was told I would be waiting at least an hour & a half so I gave it a miss because I had a long drive back to Vegas ahead of me.

    The option of flying from the strip (while not cheap) seems to be the best option - I will probably do this next time I am there.
