    Question 1

I can not play a cash game to save my life. How do i learn to play without going broke?

    Question 2

Latliy I have been getting into trouble with pairs 88 and less and with KQ. Has anyone advice on how I can tighten my play with these hands?

I seem to be overly attached to small pairs in the same way others cant let A rag go.

As usual all advice gratefully received

Play microstakes until you are beating them consistently. Post hands, reply to other people's hand histories. Read strategy posts here and on 2+2. Buy and learn how to use PT/HUD. Move up when you are making consistent profit and have confidence in your game.

Enjoy yourself but don't expect it to be easy.

play lots of hands cheap stakes and pay attention and try and take it seriously even with 1c pots

limp and call small raises purely for set value...probably not optimal but cheaper than getting attached to them!

    and with KQ.

play KQ KJ QJ etc with the belief that making 1 pair with these hands is no good - if you are calling a PF raise - just keep in mind that if you hit TP you could well be foooooked!

...a very wise old excellent poker player told me that KQ was the work of the devil!

    Thanks for the advice.

Bops brought another question I had on my ming (whatever that is).

In general I dont limp, should I be considering it more often.

The reason I posted my question on small pairs is as follows.

I was playing last night and got AKs on the sb. I raise, i hit the flop but its scary so I bet strong to shoo away the others. i get the pot.

I am on the Button next had, Get AKoI raise, i hit the flop but its scary so I bet strong to shoo away the others. I get the pot.

I am in the cut off next hand I get 88, I raise, flop comes 567, i bet strong(3/4 the pot) I am reraise by bb witha minimum raise. I fold. The guy then says "oh predictable". I assume he thought I was on a steal. I have been wondering should I have called him as he seemed to think I had nothing. I could see myself getting my third 8 and busting to his 4 for the straight.

Later that night I went out to 77 but that was me playing my postion poorly. I was UTG and bet out 3 times the BB. Next to act called and BB went all in. I called all in and guy to my left folded. My 77 went out to 99.
I know its mostly about postion but it started me thinking on how I play my small pairs.

Oh and KQ is indeed the work of the devil.

Start offf by playing the cash games in the Jackpot rather than the SE or Fitz. Standard isnt the highest so its a good spot to get your bankroll up and running. Please PM me when your heading in and tell me who you are
